Programmer/Software Engineer - Mainframe

Qualifications/Education Required:3 years application design and 3 years COBOL, DB2, SQL, and JCL programming experience3 years of VSAM File structure processing.  One year can be supplemented with an equivalent data storage product 3 years of TSO/ISPF/SDSF or equivalent products.  One year can be supplemented with an equivalent editor. Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically Excel, Word, or related products Ability to conduct client interviews (internal and external) regarding new development or problem resolution.  Documentation and follow-up skills also a necessity.Proficient written and verbal communication skills.Associate or BS degree in Management Information Systems, or Computer Science and Business Administration or comparable related work experience.

 Desired Skills/Experience: (willing to train or nice to have)CICS, SAS, Syncsort, IBM Utilities, Easytrieve. Endevor or equivalent Migration Configuration software PC based tools; including Access, Power Point, Visio, WinZip, etc.Healthcare and Medicaid knowledge.



Detailed Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesAccountable for all areas of the system development life cycle including: requirements gathering/review, design, application programming, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support.Responsible for documenting and assisting in definition of tech. requirements of application.Responsible for coding, testing, and implementing software solutions to meet both functional and technical design specifications. Responsible for building expertise with new technologies, software, methods and tools.Responsible for maintaining and repairing applications to ensure performance in accordance with technical and functional specifications.Responsible for production support (on-call), including prime and non-prime (after hours) support.Responsible for ensuring programming modifications do not introduce application inefficiencies.Responsible for following departmental processes & procedures.Responsible for ensuring efficient testing methodologies are used.Responsible for assisting in the creation, execution, documentation of test scripts to ensure that an application or technical environment meets performance requirements (technical, functional and user interface).Responsible for contributing to a high-performing, motivated work group by applying interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to achieve project goals and realize value.Responsible for working with peers and team leaders to ensure assignment deadlines are communicated and being met.
