Project Manager III

Cabela's, World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting and fishing gear has an opening for a Project Manager III to work in our MIS department at our corporate offices located in Sidney, NE.

This high-level position performs project planning and execution in the Cabela’s delivery of project management services to internal clients. It will enhance the highly sensitive installation process associated with complex, internal strategic projects (including product development). This position will directly manage large, cross-functional, multi-channel strategic projects. This position will involve all departments of Cabela’s and impact Cabela’s efficiency, quality, profitability, competitive position, and customer satisfaction. Builds teamwork and ensures development is a team effort. Individuals in this position ensure the personal and technical development of each individual within the team to achieve success to their maximum potential. Is expected to demonstrate professionalism and promote a positive influence on peers. Individuals in this position are encouraged to prepare for possible advancement opportunities within the department, if the interest to pursue promotions exists.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Communication: Use extensive communication and facilitation skills to channel project and resource information and updates to the team, business units, and upper management. Project / Resource / Business Management: Ensure delivery of projects against schedule, cost, resource, scope and quality baselines Manage multiple, concurrent projects/programs and oversees all phases of those projects/programs, including preparation of estimates, project budget, scope, schedule, or cost changes. Acquire and coordinate the assignment and resource management of internal/external project resources Provide mitigation strategies and management of issues and risks. Analysis and Planning: Draft useful and creative solutions to business problems by engaging project team and business units in collaborative analysis and problem solving. Prepares and/or implements long term strategic plans. Participate in the creation of capital budgets. Prepares and/or implements long term strategic plans. Mentoring and Development of Others: Establishes goals and objectives, and gives feedback to staff Perform evaluations and conduct team building. Tool Use: Track and manage capital costs and expenditures.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Extensive communication, mediation (conflict resolution), and facilitation skills. Extensive project management experience. Ability to make difficult complex strategic decisions. Visionary with long term focus - able to see the end result. Ability to instill trust, motivate, and work with other people, team skills, with a positive work attitude. Ability to create an open environment conducive to freely sharing information and ideas that is also conducive to contribution, growth and achievement. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in a project lead, project manager, or similar position is required, including experience with project tracking and base lining. A solid understanding of Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and guidelines is preferred. PMI Certification or willingness to work toward it would be a definite plus. Hands on experience in successfully managing and executing large cross-functional strategic projects desired.
