Implementation Services VI QA EngineerEnterprise Operations is looking for a senior VMware technician. This is an exciting opportunity to establish VMware and a large virtual infrastructure within Kaiser Permanente. Some of the key responsibilities include testing and certifying virtual infrastructure systems with VMware; conducting and participating in meetings, reviews, and process improvement activities; and diagnosing and fixing Windows OS and ESX-based server problems. Further duties include resolving problems, conducting advanced research, and identifying product/service innovations. This technician works to maintain the highest level of availability, reliability, and performance for VMware and associated products.In this position, you will perform software product installation, configuration management, maintenance, testing, and documentation of VMware and related products. You will also work with the engineering teams to translate high-level business requirements into technical designs and practical engineering solutions, perform application upgrades for existing applications, and assist application support teams with problem diagnoses. The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of two years of technical experience of VMware in a large, complex environment with SAN attached storage from EMC or IBM. A minimum of at least three years of design/implementation experience in servers, storage, and backup and recovery is required. Must have experience in large-scale enterprise support environment utilizing industry best practices and mature processes, to include x86 hardware from HP or IBM, VMware Virtual Infrastructure, the P2V process, and either Windows 2003 or Linux Server administration. A significant recent working history of software product installation, customization, testing, software maintenance, and problem diagnosis is also required. VMware VCP and LINUX certifications are highly desirable.Enterprise Operations is part of the Service Delivery group, a group of 2000+ plus people who provide 24-hour year-round infrastructure management, systems monitoring, and operational support to over 2,500 applications, millions of members, and the 130,000 staff that constitute Kaiser Permanentes medical groups and business partners. Enterprise Operations implements, installs, configures, and supports over 30 system software infrastructure products.
