QA/Test Automation Engineer

Job description: Automation Engineer, Technical LeadSummary:The person in this role will fill a key position on the KPIT Automated Central team. Automation Central is part of the Testing & Environment Support group and consists of software developers. Automation Centrals charter is to promote and improve the use of automation technologies in the KPIT software testing organizations. The person in this position will be expected to provide technical expertise for one or more test automation technologies. Current test automation technologies supported by this team includes HP WinRunner and HP QuickTest Professional. The person we seek will need to be an excellent communicator, details oriented, customer oriented and very much hands-on. This position is ideal for a technically strong individual now ready to move into a consulting role. The success of this person will be measured in how successful Automation Central executes its charter.Specific responsibilities:1. Perform as a consultant in delivery of Automation Central consulting services.2. Actively contribute to the pool of test automation best practices knowledgebase.3. Assist other team members in fulfillment of consulting engagements.4. Manage test automation projects for Automation Central KPIT software test teams.5. Resolve automation related technical problems for Automation Central KPIT software test teams.Required skills:1. Strong and current test automation solution development skills using either HP WinRunner or QTP.2. Strong software system design skills.3. Software coding skills in one or more of the following development languages, C#, Java, or C++.4. Good understanding of object oriented software solution development.5. Must understand formal software testing processes.6. Excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills.7. Able to manage and coordinate multiple projects.8. Proficiency using project management software.9. Able to manage multiple and dynamic priorities.10. Must be able to work independently.11. Should be able to develop sound software development processes and procedures.12. Can use Microsoft Word and Excel.13. Must be resourceful.Required experience:1. Minimum five years experience as test automation software developer using HP WinRunner andor QTP.2. Minimum two years experience in a lead position on a software development team.3. Minimum two years experience in a position responsible for gathering and documenting user requirements, or producing formal software designs, etc.4. Minimum two years experience on a project where formal project management was practiced.5. Must be able to install software and hardware following instruction.6. Minimum two years experience in a position where direct and constant interaction with customers was required.Other desired skillsexperience:1. Experience with the test automation of the Epic suite of applications.2. Experience in creating bulk test data in a formal testing environment.3. Exposure to HL-7 or other EDI technologies.4. Working knowledge of HP Quality Center.5. Working knowledge of Business Process Testing.6. Experience in a large IT organization a plus.7. Experience working in a healthcare industry position.8. Working knowledge with database design concepts.9. Working knowledge of SQL.10. Comfortable using UNIX OS level commands.11. Comfortable using Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio and Project.12. Experience with project management software on a commercial software or large test automation solution development project.Education requirements:1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent on-the-job experience. Other information:1.
