Quality Assurance Manager

The Bluetooth SIG develops and maintains a number of tools, websites, and products that support its membership.  The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager's goal is to critically evaluate all of the Bluetooth SIG's tools, websites, and products so as to ensure that when these products are delivered to the membership and/or public, they meet or exceed quality expectations for the given product, website, or tool.  The QA Manager therefore leads a team of Test Engineers, Testers, and Technical Support Representatives who identify and filter issues, and who work with the rest of the Technical Team to assess the risk, manage resolution, and verify closure of these issues.





Roles and Responsibilities

 

The QA Manager (and by extension the QA Team) is ultimately responsible for the testing and documentation efforts for the following tools developed by other teams within the company: Bluetooth Profile Tuning Suite (PTS) tool Bluetooth Test Plan Generator (TPG) tool BLUETOOTH.ORG Website BLUETOOTH.COM Website Bluetooth SIG Issue Management



The QA Team is also responsible for device to device testing activities and the management of the Bluetooth SIG’s Device Library.  These responsibilities include: Maintaining and improving the Bluetooth SIG's Device Library Annual device to device testing and the evaluation of device quality Device to PTS testing and the evaluation of PTS and device quality PTS validation testing using devices



Qualifications Excellent verbal and written skills A technical degree in engineering or computer science with 4+ years experience in quality assurance and/or testing 2+ years experience in managing a testing or QA team Strong knowledge of QA methods, SDLC, best practices, and project management Experience working with automation and tracking tools Solid organization management and resource planning skills Ability to mentor Test Engineers Experience with Bluetooth specifications or strong desire to learn





The QA Manager works closely with all of the internal teams at the Bluetooth SIG since the QA Team is frequently responsible for reviewing and evaluating internal products and services.  Daily work for the QA Manager includes planning testing programs and projects, relaying results of testing activities, closing issues in the issue management systems, assessing the risk prior to delivering products, tools, and services to members, and various project management tasks.  In addition the QA Manager supports the other teams by updating website and other content geared towards the membership and the public.
