RADAR Systems Engineer

Nortel Government Solutions has an immediate opening for a Radar System Engineer located in Colorado Springs, CO. Chosen candidate will perform in-depth system engineering analysis and design and provide technical guidance, design, and engineering evaluation on single and integrated projects. Provide system level engineering to support sustainment and modernization efforts associated with ground based radar and optical sensor systems assigned to SENSOR. Accomplish complete range of engineering and data analysis activities by applying seasoned analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills. Determine the technical objectives and top level project requirements necessary to satisfy Customer requirements, deliverables, and expectations for sustainment and modernization projects. Candidate will also: Establish, come to an agreement on, and maintain a common understanding and commitment between the Customer, users, stakeholders, and IPT members of the requirements. Perform the functional allocation activity that bridges the gap between the high level set of system requirements and constraints (from the Requirements Analysis) and the detailed set of requirements required (in Synthesis) to develop systems. Develop a system design based on the requirements and associated architectures allocated to the system level. Design activities may include design analyses, modeling, simulations, drawing development, and bread boarding or prototyping activities. Support successful system integration which relies on the timely identification, management and verification of system interface requirements and design as well as commitment of appropriate resources to plan, prepare for, and perform integration and timely verification. Support an effective validation and verification process which ensures that systems developed by ITT and associate contractors comply with customer requirements and base-lined system requirements. Develop and present briefings describing complex issues and suggested solutions for presentation to SENSOR management and government personnel. Travel to sensor sites and other locations as required in support of assigned tasks. Interface with government and other contractor personnel to discuss project technical, cost and schedule issues. Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience: 10-12 yrs Required Education: Bachelors of Science degree and 9 years or Masters and 7 years of experience required. US citizenship is required. Must also be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required; may be required to obtain an interim clearance within 6 months of document submittal. Required Skills/Abilities: Candidate must have five or more years of practical working experience with radar systems Experience with ground based radar or optical sensor systems Experience with real-time systems Adept at analyzing operational software functions and at developing software tools needed to analyze system data In-depth understanding of satellite and missile flight dynamics Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs such as; Outlook, Power Point, and Word software programs with minimal assistance Relevant equivalent experience may apply Have willingness to travel and join a high tempo team Have knowledge, skills and or experience on BMEWS/PAVE PAWS Upgrade Early Warning Radar (UEWR), or the Early Warning Radars (EWR) systems are preferred Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
