Route Data Analyst

National Express Corp (NEC) provides student-busing services for approximately 13,000 routes throughout North America using a shared service model for preplanned routes (e.g. a central command center serving all North America), complimented with local resources to provide immediate human intervention at the local level to deal with unplanned, unanticipated events. Within this context, this position provides data analysis and support for the development of preplanned routes and assignment of vehicles and drivers for a specific geographic area. Analyze, manipulate, organize and transform data using appropriate GIS tools and techniques (e.g. geocoding, spatial analysis) and runs a variety of queries and scripts to support the building of routes. Maintain and manage route logistics databases (e.g. bus stop, parking, maintenance facilities, fuel locations, schools, students, vehicles, Drivers, hazard locations, school boundaries, eligibility criteria etc.) to ensure currency and facilitate development of accurate routes and appropriate assignment of vehicles and Drivers. Assess, analyze and evaluate data related processes and tools and develops and recommends software and process improvements to IT and school districts. Troubleshoot data to assess, analyze and evaluate accuracy and completeness and performs required cleansing. Develop, maintain and edit maps using mapping technology (e.g. ARC GIS) and creates polygons. Research sources of required data and facilitates interface to import data.

Job Requirements:

• Formal education and training related to data management and analysis or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Knowledge of and experience applying the principles, practices, tools, techniques and standards of data analysis and management to develop, troubleshoot and maintain very large databases.

• Knowledge of and experience applying mapping principles, concepts, tools, methods and techniques to develop and maintain relevant maps.

• Knowledge of logistics principles and concepts to understand data requirements for routing and obtain and ensure relevance, accuracy and completeness of data.

• Knowledge of and experience with information technology and relevant software including the ERSI platform including ARC GIS or other mapping and map editing systems (e.g. Access, Excel, Oracle) to compile, cleanse, manipulate and organize a very large volume of data to facilitate development of routes and assignment of vehicles and drivers.

• Knowledge of customer service to understand customer service expectations and parameters relevant to route development.

• Significant experience in data analysis in a large operational environment.

• Knowledge of NEC vision, values and service promise and the parameters of Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and contracts to understand how data analysis impacts the business.

• Knowledge and/or experience with data modeling required.
