SAN/Tivoli Engineer
Maintains, monitors, designs, and supports IT and Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server infrastructure with critical reliability and maximum uptime. Position will be responsible for the overall TSM Architecture design, implementation and support for the enterprise. Performs technical functions including supporting, evaluating, implementing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and systems for an Enterprise TSM environment. Maintains a high level of service on TSM production systems and anticipates future requirements, trends, and changes to assure current and future customer satisfaction. Performs troubleshooting of TSM system problems utilizing management consoles and other troubleshooting tools. Assists in creating and maintaining graphical and text-based documentation and standards development. Assists in configuring and implementing monitoring and management systems. Available 24x7 on rotational pager and for scheduled maintenance windows. Up to 20% travel required.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and support LAN and WAN infrastructures to support Enterprise TSM and other systems.
Setup/Maintain the TSM server code including schedules, storage pools, management classes, TSM databases, recovery logs, performance parameters, and TSM server options file.
Manage capacity and performance of the backup infrastructure ensuring the integrity of the infrastructure.
Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain TSM technologies, Plan and coordinate the implementation and support of the TSM products, Solve issues related to the deployment of TSM software
Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates)
Conduct research, cost-benefit and return-on-investment analysis on proposed hardware, software and systems to justify recommendations, support purchasing efforts and aid management in making infrastructure design and architecture decisions.
Create and maintain infrastructure standards documentation as it relates to infrastructure systems design, configuration, support, and processes.
Design, implement, and engineer system security standards, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Proactively monitor, test, collect and analyze system performance statistical data to improve quality of TSM environment.
Diagnose and resolve complex configuration and troubleshooting issues within a multi-vendor infrastructure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years of solid knowledge of distributed systems backup, archive and disaster recover technologies
5+ years Linux/Unix/AIX experience operating system experience
2+ years IBM Tivoli Storage Manager experience in a large scale enterprise data center environment
TSM Certification preferred
IBM hardware skills (SAN/xSeries), NetAPP and AIX skills helpful
Familiar with IBM P series hardware
Familiar with troubleshooting and configuring HP Hardware
Experience with IBM tape libraries and FC tape drives a plus
Experience managing ADIC/Quantum Scalar tape library systems
Knowledge of performance tuning tools and network management systems
