This position is part of the System Technology Consortium (SyTEC) Technical Services Department and will report to the Manager of Application Development Team. SyTEC provides ongoing support for the following production SAP applications: Finance (FI/FM/AP/AR) / Materials Management (MM), Human Resources / Payroll (HR/PY), and Business Warehouse (BW). SyTEC is in the realization phase for the following SAP applications: SAP Campus Management (CM) / Customer Relationship Management (CRM) / Enterprise Portal (EP) and SAP Data Exchange /Process Integrator (XI/PI). This ABAP position will evaluate requests, plan, and work with other application developers, various SAP functional teams, the Business Warehouse team and technical consultants.
Responsibilities
Work closely with staff and technical consultants on the SAP project throughout development and implementation to ensure a high level of knowledge transfer to support the project development. Work closely with the functional team members to analyze specific application requirements in order to create effective, scalable and sustainable programs for data conversion, interfaces, custom reports and transmission of data to vendors and third party software. Effectively utilize SAP development tools including ABAP Workbench, ABAP Editor, Screen Painter and BAPI Browser. Successfully develop / deliver Forms, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Upgrades, Workflow and Web for SAP applications. Responsible for creating adequate documentation for all technical tasks performed by SyTEC staff or tasks distributed to remote support staff. Implement / maintain “best practices” in application development, program performance, and data security. Respond to escalated trouble tickets and support Help Desk with level 2 troubleshooting and issue resolution. Upgrade systems by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software. Ability to assist in analysis and debugging of SAP delivered code. Provide status reports to supervisors and peers on a regular basis regarding project timeliness and deliverables. Successfully meet organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in related discipline and a minimum of five years demonstrable IT experience. Three years of SAP ABAP programming experience required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical/design skills required to integrate solutions across a multi-university environment. Strong ABAP programming skills to successfully define, code, test, and implement custom ABAP programs. Experience preparing and delivering technical and training documentation. Ability to lead small groups in order to meet project goals and team assignments. A “customer service” attitude to meet customer expectations per service level agreements. Strong time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities. Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated verbal and written communication to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the project team and external customers. Required to work on site.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
