Job Category:SCA Machine Tool Operator Primary Location:USA-CA: CALIFORNIA-NORCOSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Regular Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 04/03/2008Description: SCA Machine-Tool Operator - D 10 Machine-Tool Operator/Inspector needed to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, in Norco, CA. Operates a variety of machine tools (e.g. jig borer, grinding machine, lathe, etc.) to manufacture, rework, and repair interface gages and related hardware for the Navy Special Interface Gage Program. Requires the ability to plan difficult machining operations which require complicated setups and a high degree of accuracy. Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments to assure that required dimensional accuracies are achieved. As an ancillary duty, will be required to stage and inspect Navy interface gages and other mechanical components/devices for dimensional conformance to design requirements using standard and advanced dimensional measuring instruments. Perform other ad-hoc duties associated with operation of the NSWC Corona Measurement Science & Technology Lab (MSTL). Work will take place at the state-of-the-art Measurement Science and Technology Laboratory at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division in Norco, CA. Requires a minimum of two years machining/tool and die making and dimensional inspection experience using simple dimensional measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, mechanical and electronic indicators, gage blocks, etc.). Must be able to accurately interpret mechanical engineering drawings and associated technical specifications. Experience with the theory and application of geometric dimensioning and toleration practices and procedures in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5-1994 highly desired. Must be proficient in verbal and written English. Must be able to effectively communicate mechanical concepts with technical personnel of all levels. Applicant must be able to sit for a long period and be able to stand, talk, and listen from 25 to 50 percent of time, and lift up to 50 lbs as much as 25 percent of the time. Candidate must be able to identify and distinguish colors, and able to adjust vision to bring an object into sharp focus. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
