Blue Shield of California is currently seeking several experienced Business Intelligence experts to drive the strategy, implementation and development of enterprise wide Business Intelligence capabilities. As one of the company's top business priorities, this initiative has high visibility and strong executive sponsorship. This position conducts data analysis, needs assessments and cost/benefit analysis in order to align data warehouse solutions with business initiatives.
Database, data warehouse, data source, data structure, data flow, data modeling, query and report writing and management experience and capability:
Experience in engineering data mining, in defining data relationships and dependencies, in understanding how data tables can be combined for analysis, can write queries, determine business need for new or changed data or information, can support multiple internal customers with data and report capability.
Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
Analyzes business and user needs, documenting requirements and revising existing systems.
Develops management tools and reports to assist in measuring, managing, and planning business initiatives.
Analyze, understand and document source systems and source systems data.
Understand and document existing business processes, business rules, business calculations, and data transformations.
Assist in metadata design and implementation.
Create use cases, test plans, and perform testing/QA on ETL mappings and other data load processes.
Develop, document and perform system, integration and user acceptance tests.
Participate in cross-functional projects serving as the data warehouse business analyst.
Provide functional and technical support to business and IT customers, for existing and future Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence systems.
The candidate must be articulate with strong communication skills, and be able to work at all levels within the organization.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic. Develop efficient work methods to accomplish challenging work goals.
Assignments are broad in nature and complex in scope.
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems related field
At least six years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve problems and ability to effectively apply a broad range of professional concepts, practices and methods in moderately complex and diverse circumstances.
Strong verbal/written communication skills.
Well versed in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence reporting skills with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with multiple Data Warehouse projects as Business Systems Analyst and or Programmer Analyst required.
