For more information, visit http://www.standardandpoors.com The Portal Solutions Architect will function and serve as the main Vignette Portal Architect for all Portal Services initiatives and provide an end-to-end architecture. The position will lead efforts to architect, design, develop, and implement technology-enabled business and/or technical information solutions encompassing multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies in context of the Vignette Portal platform as the main central gateway for the S&P enterprise. The position is responsible for the overall architectural approach and design based on a client's business requirement. Responsibilities Lead and execute on all aspects of the design and delivery of portal solutions and related components including interfaces, infrastructure oversight (configuration recommendation and implementation etc), application integration, middleware, data source management and security Design enterprise-level technical architectures and implementation strategies. Work with the technical development team to successfully execute and deliver complex solutions. Provide technical direction to other Application Architect(s), Infrastructure Architect(s) and technical leads under the Portal Services umbrella. Provide design direction to development leads during Portlet design and construction. Conduct Architecture, Design and Code Reviews to ensure applications integrate according to the standards defined within the Shared Portal Services Platform. Provide technical leadership & mentoring of others on the application of new portal technologies and software development methodologies. Create level of effort estimates in conjunction to the TSM and/or TDM. Review and assess consistent use of Vignette portal architectural frameworks across multiple groups within the organization. Re-engineer both applicable legacy and new technologies into state-of-the-art service oriented architectures within the Vignette Portal platform. MS in Computer Science or a related field with 4+ years of experience in software technology consulting OR BS in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of experience in software technology development and delivery. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Demonstrated abilities to assess project team needs and to recommend functional and technical solutions that assist in streamlining and improving the existing processes. Must have extensive experience building and managing an enterprise information portal and building portal based solutions, using Vignette's Portal platform, must have expert knowledge and experience with managing and configuring Java runtime environments and Java application servers including BEA WebLogic in a large enterprise environment. Knowledge and experience with J2EE application development, the JSR Portlet Specifications and Web Services for Remote Portlet (WSRP), design patterns, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), solution frameworks, design patterns and web based services desired. Exceptional customer-facing skills, including: Strong Communication/Presentation skills, Interpersonal skills, overall Professionalism Hands-on experience with the following technologies or products is desired: Robust Vignette Portal product knowledge and experience (VAP 7.2x, or 7.3x) Frameworks / technologies (Spring, Struts, Hibernate, RIA, etc) Application Servers (BEA, IBM, JBoss, etc.) Service Oriented Architectures (XML, SOAP, etc.) Relational Database Technologies (MySQL, Oracle, SQLServer, DB2, etc.) Enterprise Portal Platforms (Vignette, IBM, BEA, etc.) Enterprise/Web Content Management and Document Management Systems (Vignette, Documentum,, FatWire, Alfresco, SharePoint, etc.) Enterprise Search Technologies (Autonomy, Ultraseek, Google, etc.) Related critical portal technologies (JSR168, WSRP, AJAX etc.) Single Sign On / Identity Management Solutions (Oblix, Netegrity etc) 4+ years of architectural activities 3+ years OOA&D Methodologies: RUP, Agile, UML 2+ years Rapid Application Development, rapid prototyping, iterative approach to projects 4+ years distributed computing: Full J2EE stack: EJB, JMS, JNDI, UDDI, Web Services Experience in the layout and architecture planning for integrating multiple platforms Hands-on software development experience with multiple languages and platforms SOA, Web Services, SOAP, ESB,, Java Database experience, Oracle and standard SQL queries. Experience with integration technologies that bridge MS/.NET/Excel environment with Java/J2EE Experience with multiple O/S’s: Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
