Senior BI Data Architect (Sony Online Entertainment)

The ProSource Group is currently working directly with Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) to assist them with some of their high-priority requirements. You will be applying for a direct, full-time position with SOE.

 

Sr. Business Intelligence Data Architect

 

Sony Online Entertainment produces and distributes online entertainment targeted to mainstream consumers and game enthusiasts and owns and manages The Station@sony.com , one of the leading online entertainment networks.  SOE also works with Sony's U.S. operating companies in the area of online advertising and sponsorship sales.  We are headquartered in San Diego with offices in Austin, Seattle, and Denver.

 

This position is part of the SOE Platform group.  The Platform group provides infrastructure systems to the company for services such as registration, billing, customer service tools, as well as support of business initiatives such as retention and promotional programs. In addition, the group develops and maintains the PLAYSTATION®3 Network Platform.

 

We are currently searching for a Sr. Business Intelligence Data Architect to join our Database Services team in San Diego, Ca.  The ideal candidate will have commercial experience architecting and implementing data warehouses and business intelligence solutions.  The candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of enterprise level infrastructure, middleware technologies, databases and application servers.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

The ideal candidate will have commercial experience architecting and implementing data warehouses and business intelligence solutions.  The candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of enterprise level infrastructure, middleware technologies, databases and application servers. Candidate must have completed at least three (3) full life cycle DW Implementation from requirements till post production support. Must have in-depth understanding of enterprise data standards, data quality & how data is used as a strategic asset. Must be able to mentor and grow information architecture practice.

 

Additional responsibilities include identifying information needs and business rules as part of Conceptual Data Model and Logical Data Model development efforts as well as conducting data life cycle analysis and data profiling activities to produce source-to-target mapping and transformation specifications.

 

Required skills

·  7+ years of experience with designing and deploying business intelligence solutions

·  4+ years of experience in working with Cognos, Business Objects or MS BI suite.

·  Data modeling based on business requirements adhering to recognized industry standards.  Candidate must have thorough understanding & practical application of relational and dimensional design as well as industry embraced methodologies.

·  Working knowledge of the SQL/T-SQL, MDX and VB(.Net) Script languages;

·  Demonstrable development lifecycle understanding;

·  Business analysis and requirement gathering skills;

·  Client facing and thinking strategically from client’s perspective to deploy correct solutions;

·  Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develop technical standards and principles

·  Lead business requirements and data modeling discussions

·  Development of standards and principles for logical enterprise data warehouse architectures using best practices and client specific considerations.

·  Prescribe steps required to achieve best practice-based modeling approach from the baseline of current practices

·  Prepare, Propose timeline for implementing principles and standards

·  Work with application developers to map business process models to data models, enhancing data modeling within enterprise data warehouse.

·  Advise clients on appropriate uses of business intelligence and data warehouse technologies

·  Create and maintain data dictionary, Meta data & data modeling standards and recommended process

·  Must be able to visualize, think and estimate effort & complete data model in a timely manner

·  Must be able to validate and articulate how the proposed model meets or exceeds given business requirements

 

Desirable Skills

·  Knowledge of database platforms and ETL technologies

·  Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies

·  Development of business intelligence architectures

·  Experience developing and implementing data quality programs and implementing data quality programs

·  Experience developing and implementing master data management programs

·  Experience leading small (3-5 person) teams

·  Excellent oral communication skills interacting with business users, executives, and technologists.

·  Strong written, presentation and communication skills
