10440218Senior Business System AnalystStart: 4/28/2008Duration:6 Months (with possible extension)Location: PortlandRequirements:Assume lead role on work assignments and delegate tasks to the development team.Actively work with customers and IT to gather and document functional and system requirementsPerform analysis and design on small to medium application projects / enhancement requestsWrite detailed technical specifications for developers to followPerform system analysisFacilitate IT work estimatesDocument use cases and closely interact with developers and QAFacilitate test planning, execution and user testingProvide guidance and training to peers and to developers at lower levelsFacilitate meetings and document outcomePerform technical training when necessaryDevelop and perform formal presentations when requiredUnderstand IT processes and work within designated guidelinesParticipate in the development and continuous improvement of BSA standardsProvide customer service in an advisory roleAssist with user training as neededTroubleshoot application problems and propose optimal resolutionsResponsible for optimization of system applicationsProvide on-call support as required (may require evening and weekend work).Provide best practices and application knowledge mentorship Tools/Applications:Experience with J2EE development is mandatory no exceptionsExperience with DB2 is mandatory no exceptionsExperience with scripting languages such as Ant, Unix Shell is mandatory no exceptionsExperience documenting integrated systems is mandatoryAdvanced SQL Server skills (ETL, DTS, SSIS, and T-SQL) is desiredWorking within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle Methodology is requiredMainframe IMS and DB2 data access is a plusBasic Qualifications:The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst and be responsible for assembling and facilitating the review and approval of technical designs and systems diagrams; providing information and guidance to the business representatives to ensure the approved requirements will achieve business objectives; translating functional designs into written technical designs and specifications; reviewing and approving technical specifications cross functionally, ensuring they align with the business requirements, and technical requirements; providing assistance to the IT manager in understanding the requirements and resolving any project conflicts.Accountable for writing, publishing, getting approval and maintaining detailed functional specifications, as well as reviewing and approving appropriate technical designs.Must be able to plan and perform testing, including documenting test conditions, expected results, and test validation.Professionalism and strong communication skills are essential. Must be comfortable working under the pressure of delivering quality results with schedule deadlines and must have a proven track record in meeting schedule for tasks while still meeting or exceeding business requirements and goals.Must be able to work independently as well as with others on work tasks and must demonstrate initiative and ability to self-manage time and work with minimal direction.
