We are seeking qualified applicants for the following position based in our Redwood Shores, CA headquarters: Senior Communication Architect Reports to: Director of Communication Services Primary Responsibilities: The Sr. Communication Architect has global responsibility for architecting and guiding deployment of highly reliable, scalable and secure, high performance network solutions. This position is a critical technology leadership position within EA IT and will significantly contribute to development of end to end IT services architecture. It is also a key influencer of next generation of online product delivery systems including online game operations and digital distribution of content. The Sr. Communication Architect will be working with internal IT staff, game development teams and external technology partners around the world. Qualifications - 15+ years relevant experience, with very large-scale, international networks (multiple OC-48, GigE), with an entertainment, media, content distribution, ISP or carrier-class network company- Expert knowledge of overall technology and business operating models, and the relationship to network technology architecture- Proven track record of success working with network and application development teams in a highly de-centralized environment- Ability to draw the best ideas from a talented pool of senior engineers and to generate support for selected solutions- Ability to work with other architects (applications, hosting, etc.) to design cost-effective and reliable end-to-end solutions- Expert knowledge of Cisco, Foundry and other enterprise-class data networking equipment and product lines- Intimate knowledge of network provider and carrier offerings (for WAN, LAN, MAN, MPLS, carrier neutral co-lo)- Proven record with successful deployment of large-scale global network solutions- Experience with network architecture methodologies, standards and tools- Expert in analyzing and communicating strengths and weaknesses of network technology solutions, relative to network security, performance and cost- Prior experience in development of financial models to support network technology solution recommendations- Must be self-motivated with strong sense of ownership. Candidate has strong problem solving skills.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentations- Programming background a plus It is expected that the person filling this position will have a minimum of a bachelors degree in a relevant technical discipline, with an advanced degree preferred. Network expert credentials and certifications are a must. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, QoS, layer 2 and layer 3 VLANS, and layer 4 Load Balancing, concepts include, but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, RIP, HSRP, and NAT. Knowledge of network security concepts and technologies, including, Cisco PIX and Checkpoint firewalls.
