Senior Desktop Engineer

Job Description:Works as a senior member of a Desktop Support team providing support to Netcom users.  Maintains computer systems, OS installs, configures software, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs computer and peripheral components.  Provides tier 2 support, researches solutions, and coordinates with Tier 3 support, and other agencies to resolve issues.Duties include end user technical support for Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, Internet Explorer, Visio, and select proprietary applications. User-level OS support for Windows XP and VISTA.  Hardware troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance support for PC desktop systems, and laptops.  Printer repair and maintenance including (Fuser replacement, Printer parts replacement, part ordering, part return).  Initial setup, support, and troubleshooting VPN client issues.  Creation and maintenance of ghost images of desktops and laptops.  Provides in-person, remote, phone and e-mail general IT support to clients.  Must be technically proficient and demonstrate outstanding customer service.  Troubleshoots and finds permanent solutions for client issues; and temporary work-a rounds when necessary.  Must be able to work with team members.  Applicant must be able to effectively communicate with IT Manager and Clients as to status of work at all times.  Will be required to attend meetings and briefings and report the results to supervisors.Qualifications:Position requires a 2yr degree or technical training in IT.  2 yrs experience in desktop and software support.   Must have strong technical troubleshooting skills supporting products designed for Windows server (Active Directory) and workstation network environments.  Experience supporting Windows XP desktops, experience supporting MAC OS X desktops a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Project, and Visio.  A+ or higher CertificationsExcellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff in difficult or conflictive situations   Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively.  Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances. Proficient with online and other resources for software and hardware research and troubleshooting.
