Senior Engineer - Kernel Level

COPAN Systems, Inc. has developed an enterprise level disk-based storage solution that can be used as a disk-based long-term data repository.

 

We are looking for a Senior Engineer in our Longmont location.

 

Position Summary:

Contribute to development of kernel-level storage services module.  Services include the spawning of threads that back up data, provide disk space, interact with power management module, and obtain metadata information about archived files.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop software to integrate kernel-level storage software with native MAID arrays.

- Interpret technical requirements for open-source and off-the-shelf software integration.

- Write software interface, data structure and algorithm designs to achieve expected functionality and performance.

- Develop compiled and/or interpreted code and packaging to deliver required functionality.

- Collaborate with software test personnel to validate and improve design, functionality, and performance.

- Document best practices for implementation and use of the integrated software components.

- Interface with third-party vendors and open-source communities providing integration support.

 

Required Education, Experience and Abilities:

- Experience in efficient use of network protocols and data movement.

- Strong understanding of multithread management and IPC.

- Experience with Solaris and Linux development environments.

- Strong understanding of archiving/storage technologies, including VTDs, MMS and VTLs.

- Filesystem development experience preferred.

- Be able to function in a small, high energized team of development engineer

- Must able to work in a multi tasking environment

- Solid technical understanding of storage subsystems

- Good work ethics, proactive in every aspect of the job
