Senior IP Network Systems Engineer

Seeking a Senior IP Network Systems Engineer.

This position requires extensive experience in the analysis, design and planning for all aspects of complex large scale IP networks. We are searching for candidates who have a documented track record of substantial technical and academic contributions in IP networking. The candidate should have published papers on work performed in the IP networking area. The hired individual will be employed by a major technology corporation and work in the Los Angeles area (near the Los Angeles airport). 

Key Qualifications:

  Location – Los Angeles (case by case option for telecommuting)

Security clearance – Secret (active or recently held) or be able to obtain clearance

  Skills /Experience:

§ Design of large scale IP Networks

§ Modeling of IP Networks

§ Simulation for IP Networks

§ Analysis of IP Networks

§ Knowledge of Satellite Networks and Optical Networks

§ Hands on knowledge of OPNET, a network modeling software program 

§ Current or past experience working on DOD contract highly desired

 

The candidate must have both a broad and in-depth understanding of IP network technology at a minimum of 1 of the following areas:

 

§ IP routing and multicast: BGP, IGP (IS-IS, OSPF), layer 2 switching, MPLS and  traffic engineering, multicast protocols.

§ IP QoS: Diffserv architecture, ARSVP, and SLA development.

§ IP network test and performance analysis: system and integration test plan development and execution, test results analysis and coordination with requirement and design teams.

§ IP network modeling and simulation: specify and apply mathematical traffic models and traffic scenarios for network analysis.

Hands on experience in large communications network requirements and design, network protocols development and working knowledge of Industry Standards.

Education:

§ Advanced degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or  Information Technology

§ Technical papers published
