Senior IT Buyer

 

Local major corporation is seeking an Senior IT buyer on a contract-to-hire basis who will be responsible for IT purchasing for the entire enterprise which includes hardware, software, telecom and services. This includes analyzing, negotiating and improving the efficiency of IT purchasing.  This position will develop, support, and streamline the purchasing process to ensure efficient and cost effective IT services throughout the enterprise.

 

 

Job responsibilities include:

 

1.  Responsible for the purchase of IT related hardware and software based on requisitions (or other forms of requests) that are prepared by members of the  IT department and by other IT resources within each business unit. 

2.  Prepares (or reviews) requisitions entered into the prodcurement application for completeness, accuracy and routing for authorization.

3.  Responsible to understand the technology market, and to locate the most advantageous sources of supply, regarding technology offered, price, availability, and quality – ensuring compliance with established corporate IT policies and strategies.

4.  Analyzes current and potential suppliers.  Monitors the financial health of the major suppliers.  Maintains current supplier list.  Keeps abreast of changing trends in prices or availability of materials and services to ensure a continued flow of IT equipment and materials to meet organization needs.

5.  Develops forecasts and procurement strategies by working closely with key personnel in the IT departments at the corporate and business unit levels.

6.  Solicits and evaluates proposals.

7.  Conducts negotiations with suppliers where appropriate to ensure best price and schedule.

8.  Supervises the placement of purchase orders with suppliers to include processing of data into the computerized purchasing system to support accounting requirements.

9.  Executes, implements, and administers service-related contracts as necessary.

10. Expedites the deliveries of purchased equipment and materials and coordinates receipt of same.  Works with the receiving organization and the supplier to resolve any delivery problems that are identified.

11. Maintains all necessary records of requisitions, purchases, quotations, prices, and deliveries within the software suite of tools.

12. Develops and cultivates effective working relationships with suppliers and with other departments within the organization.

13. Assists the Accounts Payable group on an ongoing basis to ensure that invoices are properly submitted from the suppliers, approved by the receiving organization and paid in accordance with the defined payment terms for each order.

14. The employee may be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management to meet organizational needs.

 

Qualifications include:

 

1.  Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Supply Chain Management or equivalent desired.

2.  3-4 years of experience in IT contract negotiation and purchasing, analysis, mediating and resolving issues.

3.  2-4 years experience with Vendor relations.

4.  In-depth understanding of the technology industry.

5.  Highly developed business and organization skills

6.  Team Player – able to effectively work within the IT department as well as with members of other departments and business units within the company.

7.  Strong computer skills – experience with procurement applications as well as with standard desktop applications.

8.  Must be versatile and self-directed able to work without close supervision, and be able to recognize and understand where a need exists, and be able to take the required actions.

9.  Strong communication skills; written and verbal.

10. Able to work well independently, and as part of a group.

11. This job requires the ability to multi-task with the ability to set priorities, anticipate problems and make decisions based on sound judgment and an orderly process of determining facts and developing options.
