Senior IT Systems Administrator

Rainmaker Systems, a leading outsource provider of sales and marketing services, is looking for a Senior IT Systems Administrator. 

Summary:  The Senior Windows Specialist will manage and improve the company’s heterogeneous network and server environment with a primary focus on improving delivery, functionality, and uptime of services delivered through and hosted on Windows platforms.  This is a high-visibility, hands-on position responsible for ensuring availability, security, and performance of the company’s diverse network & security infrastructure and a wide array of special-purpose application and database servers.

Responsibilities

As one of the principal technical resources for the Network and Server Operations team, you will use your experience and technical expertise to ensure excellence in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and continuing improvement of Rainmaker’s Windows- based core computing infrastructure. In this critical and visible role, you willProvide technical support in the Windows server areaTroubleshoot hardware and software issuesMonitor the success of backup jobs and virus alerts on all servers worldwideMonitor resource usage on servers and make recommendations for hardware upgradesProvision servers when required for new builds or for system refreshesMaintain and improve the Windows infrastructure servers (AD Domain Controllers, DHCP, DNS, Exchange, SMS, File/Print servers MOM).  This includes daily monitoring of these systems as a proactive measure to minimize problems and downtimeDevelop and implement disaster recovery processes and documentationEvaluate new operating systems, hardware, applications, and toolsChampion and drive network and computing infrastructure projects that add capability, improve efficiency and security, maximize uptime, and reduce costsAnalyze requirements, research available technologies, and analyze critical parameters including cost, performance, and scalabilityWrite specifications, technical memoranda, design documents, and test plansPrototype, design, implement, validate, and deploy solutionsAudit, inventory, and closely monitor storage, network, and computing capacities to predict future needs by performing trending analysesDevelop and maintain close relationships with internal customers within various Rainmaker business units to understand their needs, issues, and future computing requirements

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fieldMicrosoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) for Windows Server 20037+ years experience in supporting Microsoft Windows Server environmentsDemonstrated expertise and extensive experience in the following areas:Windows 2000/2003 Server administrationExchange 2003/2007 Server administrationSQL 2000/2005 Server administrationActive Directory administrationIIS and Security Certificate administrationSecurity management (including Group Policy Objects)Monitoring frameworks such as MOM, Windows performance counters, etc.Citrix and MS Terminal Services deployment and administrationHands-on experience with server applications in a Microsoft networked environmentSolid programming and scripting abilities using VBScript, Perl, Jscript, etc.Strong working knowledge of managing production systems and
applicationsTCP/IP protocols and security hardening procedures and tools for
Windows/IIS/SQLStorage Management and Backups (NAS/SAN/DAS, NFS, CIFS, NetBackup)High Availability, Clustering, and Load BalancingVirtualization experience (VMWare) is a huge plus, and is a key differentiatorCustomer-service orientation and high energy are mandatory
