Senior Instructional and Online Media Specialist
 
The Senior Instructional and Online Media Specialist (SIOMS) provides technical support for faculty and students taking classes at Bentley, both on campus and online. While the SIOMS will be responsible for attending to on-campus, classroom-related technical issues, s/he will also troubleshoot and assist off-campus students with audio and other issues related to real-time online "hybrid" classes offered through our 13 of 80 smart classrooms equipped with microphones and webcams.  S/he will work closely with the Manager of Classroom Presentation Technologies, Academic Technology Center staff and student staff.  Additionally, s/he will oversee student staff supporting online and on campus classes, develop documentation, identify and provide immediate response to any equipment failure (this includes physical delivery and/or repair), troubleshoot technology and faculty/student usability issues in a teaching and learning environment, and triage issues to provide prompt and effective responses.  The SIOMS needs to be well versed in supporting all presentation technology in Bentley's "smart" classrooms, array of high-tech "specialty labs" and any facility utilizing presentation technology.
 
The SIOMS combines solid analytical skills and experience with complementary technical skills in the areas of online and classroom presentation technologies.  Strong written (esp. via email with online students and faculty) and oral communication skills are critical. S/he must strive to give the highest quality service possible to faculty, staff, and students by demonstrating a track record for excellent client satisfaction.
 
The ideal candidate will have a BS/BA degree as well as at least 3 years of working in support of classroom technologies and programs, in an environment where state-of-the-art presentation technology is used in classrooms as well as in seminar and conference type settings. Experience supporting faculty and students in a high-pressure, quick resolution environment is preferred.  Strong technical skills, dedication to remaining current on new technologies, and strong communication skills are all requirements for success in this position.  In addition, the ideal candidate would understand and have experience working with online education programs, and supervising student staff who support faculty teaching in such programs to ensure the highest quality experience.  A warm personality and sense of humor will benefit.
