Senior Network Administrator / Specialist

JOB QUALIFICATIONS



Minimum five years experience in network administration in a medium to large LAN/WAN environment.  Individual should have a college degree in engineering or information systems with additional professional certifications a plus.  Must be able to troubleshoot network problems and recommend short and long-term network improvements.  Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Will manage projects, make presentations to management, and research alternative solutions. 

 

Experience with current network technologies such as, VmWare, Citrix, Cisco’s VoIP and infrastructure products required. Advanced experience with TCP/IP, Windows network O/S, Exchange server and Active Directory required. Experience with network security/firewalls required.  Must be self directed with strong communication skills, both written and oral.

 

Internet, Intranet, SharePoint,.NET, Access, SQL server and client/server applications experience a plus. Disaster preparedness (hot site and/or replication) experience a plus. Any exposure to ESRI (GIS), mobile automated computing using tablets or PDAs, SCADA, camera surveillance over IP and other security automation a plus. Experience with Oracle (PeopleSoft/JDE Enterprise One) ERP a plus. Project Management skills a plus.



REPORTING RELATIONSHIP  Reports to Director of IT

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for company-wide LAN/WAN environment and related technologies, such as VmWare, Citrix, Cisco VoIP, Exchange, Active Directory, and videoconferencing. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Part of IT support staff on day to day issues including Network, PCs and Peripherals.

Troubleshoot network and telecommunications problems.

Maintain network and systems security / firewall infrastructure.

Assist management with LAN/WAN and telecommunications strategies.

Assist users with various IT needs and requirements.

Research new technologies. Support Internet/Intranet development.

Assist Director of IT in various assignments as needed.

Alternate standby (on call) duty with other members of technical staff.

Assist with preparation of annual IT budget.

Help develop system wide standards policies and procedures.

Occasional overnight travel to other offices. (Apple Valley, CA and Missoula, MT)

Other duties and projects as may be assigned.

Special projects and project management as required.

Project leader on some network and other technical implementations.
