Senior Oracle DBA

Apex Systems currently has an opening for a Sr. Oracle DBA.  The position is located in Arlington, VA and requires a U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Must have a Bachelor's Degree.

Products Required: Oracle 9i,10g, SUN Solaris 9-10, TOAD, DataGuard, Grid Control, MS Outlook, MS XP Professional

Products Desired: Oracle Application server, Linux, MSSQL, Shell Scripting, Tivoli Storage Management,
Candidate should possess a good working knowledge of enterprise RDBMS to include Oracle and MSSQL. This position is responsible for implementing, upgrading and maintaining all Oracle enterprise databases in an enterprise architecture supporting applications such as Remedy, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Info Vista, and other COTS products.

The ideal database administration skill set should include initial installation of Oracle products/utilities, regular maintenance, upgrading, security patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery, data migration between Oracle products such as 9i to 10G, and configuring a data replication tool such as DataGuard to provide ’High Availability.’ This position will require an individual who can work both individually and within a group of IT professionals.
Multiplatform OS knowledge and experience, primarily in the UNIX (to include Linux and MS operating systems) environment is a plus; must have strong analytical and problem solving skills and effective oral and written communication skills. Candidates should be accustom to supporting 24X7 mission-critical production applications and databases. Proactively estimating future growth of applications in the areas of database size, number of end-users and application functionality is a highly desirable trait. The selected candidate will be responsible for documenting the environment and authoring project plans and migration plans.
