Senior QA Engineer
Implementation Services (QA) Senior Desktop Engineer PositionDELIVERABLES IN FIRST 90 DAYS:1.) Become competent in reporting and change management tools such as Remedy, NIKU, Mercury Quality center2.) Understand and promote the established KPIT core values, operating principles, and values associated with a High Reliability Organization.3.) Demonstrate ability to mentor, support, and guide other team members.4.) Exhibit superior knowledge of and practical skills with the Windows Desktop platforms.5.) Become proficient in deploying and troubleshooting KP engineered Desktop solutions6.) Develop solid understanding of KP Desktop enterprise environment.7.) Begin developing relationships with peers supporting other technologies and platforms, as well as the Wintel Engineering, Technical Services and Solution Center teams, and other project management organizations.8.) Display and promote a service oriented approach towards meeting clients needs9.) Attend mandatory training for new employees and Change Management principlesDELIVERABLES IN FIRST 120 DAYS:1.) Provide high level Desktop knowledge in a large, complex and critical implementation projects.2.) Collaborate with senior team members to evaluate existing QA team processes, tools, and documentation. If necessary, work on developing or revising processes, tools and documents to make the Desktop QA team more efficient and productive. 3.) Validate new KP engineered products and provide meaningful feedback to the Wintel Engineering team on design improvements.4.) Master reporting and change management tools mentioned in First 90 Days section5.) Create support documentation and provide training for team members6.) Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and recommend enhancements that will improve reliability, efficiency or TCO.7.) Assist senior technical staff members in evaluating team members ability and help ensure proper delegation and completion of work assignments to junior team members.8.) Continued growth in deliverables outlined in 90 Day section.DELIVERABLES IN FIRST YEAR:1.) Cement reputation as a senior level resource through hard work, superior knowledge, and the ability to competently deliver project related assignments.2.) Gain a deep understanding of the KP enterprise environment, including a wide range of technologies and the personnel who support those technologies.3.) Develop a basic understanding of the business side of KP-IT, including purchasing, budgeting, governance, and the organizational structure and our partnership with the business.4.) Continued development of all prior deliverablesRESPONSIBILITIES:1.) Gathering test requirements from Engineering support staff2.) Ensuring products from Engineering are compliant to KPIT Engineering standards and best practices3.) Developing, documenting, and executing test plans and scripts per requirements of test and per testing best practices prior to production release4.) Developing and running test simulations (manual and automated)5.) Updating test plans and scripts as problems are discovered in change implementations6.) Creating and configuring test environments per requirements of test7.) Executing test of deployment process and of product functionality 8.) Documenting test results and identifying defects to report to Engineering9.) Creating baseline test results for later comparison for future releases10.) Partnering with Engineering and Implementation Services to determine future testing needs, pre and post implementation reviews11.) Documenting of QA testing procedures and processes 12.) Preparing mail templates and directories for production implementation13.) Developing processes in working with other groups14.) Maintaining lab equipment inventory and lab environment infrastructure15.) Establishing and maintaining solid relationships with KPIT and business partner teams.16.) Complete assigned projects to ensure adherence to KP standards and best practices.17.) Consults with senior level technical staff or SME when issues are encountered and the cause of difficulty is not apparent.18.) Consults with clients to determine needs and be able to lead complex projects.QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: (Please split into two (2) groups: First one should be labeled Minimum Requirements and the second one labeled Preferred Qualifications.)Minimum Requirements:1.) Proven ability to work effectively as an individual and member of a technical team to support Windows Desktop platforms.2.) Five years or more of Wintel Desktop Support with senior level experience in large scale, high availability, multi-platform enterprise environments. 3.) Demonstrated ability to build, manage, troubleshoot, and when necessary, restore Windows desktop deployment issues in a fast pace structured environment.4.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to business clients with limited to no technical background.5.) Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff, and work successfully within technical teams.Preferred Qualifications:6.) Experience with/solid understanding of the following technologies:-Windows Desktop Operating systems (W2K, XP, VISTA)-Microsoft Patch management-Microsoft Desktop certifications-Microsoft Security Certifications-PXE/GHOST Build preparation and Imaging-System management Tools i.e. Tivoli Desktop editor-McAfee / Nortons Antivirus Tools -Active Directory-DNS-VMware (a plus)-Radia OS Manager--Scripting (a plus)-previous experience with project developmentQA testing-ability to think creatively and apply non-standard solutions when necessary 7.)
