Hiring Salary Range: $92,400-$105,600/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Reporting directly to the Manager of IT Security, the Senior Security Specialist/Analyst will be responsible for working with the security architecture team to develop the UCSC strategies and direction for data asset protection and security. This position will also provide operational support for security systems maintained by the security team.

Other primary duties and responsibilities include:

Perform real-time management and monitoring of Data Center firewalls, IDS, VPN, and other security technologies. Define both technologies and processes as tools to create a framework to build infrastructure and detailed operations documentation. Enhance UCSC's information security posture through continuous monitoring and immediate response to mitigate security threats. Ensure optimal protection of mission critical assets by providing analysis and feedback needed to modify UCSC's defenses against emerging attacks. Perform all duties in compliance with UC policies and procedures, as well as federal and state law.

Qualifications include: Substantial experience with strategic security technologies Experience in incident detection and response Expert knowledge/experience with network intrusion detection/network intrusion prevention Experience in forensics Knowledge of leading firewalls, including Checkpoint. Includes use of firewalls and access control lists
