Job Description
The goal of the WebTrends Senior Solutions Engineer is to provide the technical assistance necessary to make the sales team successful. The sales team consists of Account Managers and Account Executives. The goal of the sales team is to achieve or exceed the revenue targets, and work with customers to ensure their success. The Senior Solutions Engineer plays an instrumental part of the overall success of the sales team.
Primary Responsibilities
· Provide technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, product installations
· Assess the customer's strategic needs and uncover business requirements for WebTrends solutions.
· Provide clear, articulate answers to customer inquiries concerning system software and applications.
· Provide project/team leadership in customer support and Proof of Concepts.
· Build mini-applications, based on customer requirements, to demonstrate feasibility of the application often requiring rapid prototyping.
· Work with customers to develop success stories, references, and case studies.
· Demonstrate the value of WebTrends solutions to technical and non-technical prospects in a manner that is appropriate for the audience.
· Take ownership of and provide technical responses to proposals and RFIs that accurately describe WebTrends product messaging and unique differentiators.
· Manage the install and support of product trials and proofs of concept.
· Help to identify market and product requirements based on field experience.
Interaction
This position is a customer-facing position. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers is required. Ability to understand customer requirements and our products and then combine and translate that information into increased customer success is critical.
This position operates in a team-oriented environment. As a result, the incumbent must build and maintain strong and effective working relationships internally with the sales, account management team, product management, customer support and product marketing.
Supervision
This is an individual contributor position.
Scope
The incumbent will have a direct impact on customer success thereby influencing revenue, customer loyalty and the ability to attract other customers within that vertical market space.
The incumbent works on problems of diverse scope requiring analysis of a situation and determining the best method to resolve the situation. Exercises discretion and judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Required Skills/Education
· Degree in Computer Science or other Analytical Discipline, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of 3 years experience in presales, consulting, or similar role.
· Strong presentation skills with demonstrated experience in presenting to all level of audiences both remotely and in person.
· Experience demonstrating software or hosted applications is required.
· Technical experience in web analytics, web design, web development, online marketing, content management systems, or other web applications is highly preferred.
· Technical experience with MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL, data warehousing, and other business intelligence technologies is required.
· Hands-on experience with JavaScript is required.
· Technical experience with either Flash, Ajax, RSS, Silverlight, Streaming Media and Mobile Devices is a plus.
· Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Ongoing desire to stay current with software market and the latest technologies.
· Strong research and analytic skills.
· Accountable, determined, diligent and focused.
· Relentless about results.
Working Conditions
You must be a self-starter, as this job is a field position requiring frequent work outside the office. This position requires travel to prospects and customers with travel requirements varying but may be as much as 75%.
