Job Objectives

Apply advanced monitoring principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and architectural analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of SITAs "Best of Class" monitoring management tools.

Key Accountabilities

Working in the monitoring aspect of systems management coding systems development and architecture to create leading edge technology in advanced forms in monitoring large scale heterogeneous networks, analyze clients’ needs and design, construct, test, and maintain network monitoring systems. Be involved in the design and development of many types of SNMP, OID, MIBs, polling and other means for operating systems and network devices in a monitoring environment using such tools as HP-OV NNM, HP-OVO, Micromuse NetCool and proprietary tools. Solve technical problems that arise with existing tools in a 3rd level support capacity to internal operations groups. Develop Systems Management solutions based on requirements by Product Management, Operations and Quality Improvement teams to provide cutting edge monitoring, management and reporting capabilities.

Must be capable of analyzing an end-user’s needs and design, construct, and maintain general monitoring software or specialized utility programs. Use some programming languages, depending on the purpose of the program, but the languages most often used are C, C++, C# and Java.

Review new Airport Service products and technologies. Develop and/or integrate corresponding management and monitoring agents as well as remote intervention automatisms. Create customized, dynamic, web based views and management interfaces. Work closely with internal engineering groups to integrate monitoring agents as well as automation tools.

Focused on monitoring, is required to be capable of design, architecture, configuring, implementing, and administering complete systems. Candidates will serve as the primary technical resource and may be requested to participate in customer activities, including new business development. Provide full development lifecycle support in a test-driven, agile environment. Author Solution Designs and other technical documentation.

Education

BS in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.). Advanced degree recommended or sufficient work experience to demonstrate proficiency at this level.

Leads/promotes/initiates the development of our people assets. Collaborate with internal staff and management to ensure that the current suites of Systems Management Monitoring tools are meeting the needs of Global Operations and Technical Support.

Contributes to high-level architectural models. Investigate and select 3rd party applications and tools based on requirements by Product Management, Operations and Quality Improvement teams.

Resolves very complex problems in monitoring architecture. Resolves complex problems through root cause analysis and initiates measures to prevent future occurrences.

Ability to architect, design and configure multiple streams of assigned work. Capable of architecting a reasonably complex module with limited supervision in a short period of time.

Advance state of the art thinking and solution development.

Mentors team leaders on a broad variety of technical and architectural issues. Provide training on an as-needed basis to qualified Operations staff to enhance their knowledge and transfer information about new products and technologies.

Solutions long-term direction and planning with a complete understanding of interdependencies.

Recognized authority in more than one area of specialty and capable of mentoring senior technology professionals, both internal and external. Train and evolve best practice in tools monitoring management.

Supervision, In terms of supervision, the Systems Monitoring Specialist role requires the ability to be 'self-directed'. Self-directed: a capable decision-maker with the ability to address most issues presented by both internal and external clients. Engages management when serious issues arise. Informs management via regular update reports and presents risk mitigating suggestions in a proactive manner.

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge & capability in systems management monitoring architecture, construction, testing, infrastructure and custom configurations in a wide range of system monitoring development methodologies & operating standards.

Demonstrates knowledge in multiple monitoring approaches, orchestrates designs from a high level overviews to very low level design perspective.

Demonstrates application & corporate knowledge & understands how a change would affect multiple applications.

Experience (all with 8 plus years)

8+ years in monitoring large scale networks, engineering/design experience or equivalent experience in an IT capacity.

Knowledge of HP-Open View monitoring platform is a major plus.

Proven expertise in Java coding, troubleshooting and locating code faults, configure SNMP v2c & v3, building MIB definitions, RMON, OIDs, community strings and other technical elements along with use of customer experience management synthetic transactions tools.

Web technologies is a plus: Javascript, and HTML/DHTML, XML is a plus.

Have proven expertise in using relational databases such as MySQL and Oracle.

Professional Windows and/or UNIX/Linux system administration in an enterprise environment.

Network/systems management in an enterprise environment, security and OS hardening.

Other

Periodic on-call support and travel may be required (Domestic/Trans boarder/International) to client sites to support our tools in emergencies.
