Senior Wireless Field Technician

The Senior Field Technician exercises a lead role and performs work associated with the installation, repair, alignment and maintenance of various electronic communications systems. This positions primary responsibility is troubleshooting and repairing Motorola two-way radio and wireless data equipment, including but not limited to trunked & conventional radio systems, mobile data equipment, fixed and mesh wireless data systems.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 Component level field repairs, installation and programming of Motorola two-way radio, mobile data equipment, Motorola Canopy and MotoMesh wi-fi systems.

 Perform complex technical tasks including new system installations, upgrades, repairs, alignment, programming and testing.

 Program, tune, and test wireless voice and data communications equipment.

 Provide technical support to personnel for troubleshooting, installing, alignment and design of new and existing systems.

 Prepare and submit timely documentation of tasks completed and track activities for projects.

Assist with training and mentoring lower level technicians.

 Consult with customers and sales personnel on equipment needs; educate customers in the use of various systems and equipment.

Provide technical design recommendations and solutions for new projects and existing systems.


Minimum Qualifications:



Position requires an extensive working knowledge of Motorola voice and data communications systems and peripheral equipment. Position requires extensive working knowledge of communication systems staging, installation, testing, repair and alignment including VHF, UHF, 800/900MHz and LTR trunking. Position requires knowledge of radio programming, including trunking and conventional radios, knowledge of antenna system installation, antenna patterns and radio frequency propagation. Position requires a solid understanding and basic experience designing and troubleshooting IP based networks. Position requires professional oral and written communication skills. Must have PC operation skills and have the ability to operate technical and computer test equipment. Must be able to read and interpret schematic drawings, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and make immediate decisions and notifications of appropriate personnel.

Education: Associate’s Degree in Electronics preferred


Experience: Five years experience with Motorola radio systems


Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.

Licenses and Certificates: Must complete Motorola factory training on an ongoing basis. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record. CWS will provide an opportunity for completion of the CET certification as part of its initial training program – all Senior Field Technician are expected to have passed the CET exam with three months of their start date.
