Permanent position in Memphis, TN for a Server Operations/Technical Services Manager is responsible for maintaining a good understanding of the global business; building good customer relations and following best practice change management. The manager is responsible for selecting and maintaining the design and development of global technologies and business solutions. Responsible for preparing budgets, hiring, and training of staff, setting standards, introducing more efficient global procedures and ensuring documentation and procedures are up-to-date. Manages the activities of the global technical services functions to ensure that installation, repairs and upgrades to infrastructure, applications and their peripheral equipment are timely, consistent and well executed to meet global business needs and requirements. Manages the activities surrounding the selection of and the implementation of the infrastructure/application technologies. Works closely with GIS Vendor Management personnel to ensure service level compliance. Plans and executes a course of action as required. Manages and coordinates hardware/software upgrades/maintenance. Plans, evaluates, and schedules implementation /conversion. Coordinates with Vendors and users. Ensures that the company is in compliance with vendor license polices. Manages the development and updating of global operational standards and procedures for all infrastructure and application related activities. Establishes service levels for all activities. Monitors and measures performance and continuously seeks opportunities to improve service and productivity and reduce costs. Manage the Department’s expenses within budget guidelines. Plans and controls departmental staffing, development and organization to ensure that they are consistent with the business plan. Promotes teamwork. Hires, develops and motivates qualified staff to effectively carry out department functions and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (professional, full-time experience). Either at least 10 years experience designing, implementing, and administering networks based on at least two of the following: Windows, TCP/IP, collapsed Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet networks, ATM; or certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with demonstrated skills in TCP/IP, Windows 2003, and Exchange Server.
Required ExperienceEither at least 10 years experience designing, implementing, and administering networks based on at least two of the following: Windows, TCP/IP, collapsed Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet networks, ATM; or certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with demonstrated skills in TCP/IP, Windows 2003, and Exchange Server. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively present information to top management. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
