Software Operations Specialist

THE JOB



 

James Bimen Associates, Inc. has immediate openings for personnel who will support deployment operations at one of our customers facilities.  This customer develops and fields a line of configurable software products.  The work will include involvement in all aspects of the deployment, operations, and support of their product line.

 

The work will entail learning and understanding the features and capabilities of the offered software products. After an initial training period, duties will include:

 



  Assessing software product suitability for specific applications. Pre-configuring laptop and desktop PCs and software product installation and configuration. Testing software installations. Monitoring internal server operations. Track and document activities related to system fielding. Coordinating with the end users of the field systems and provide “help desk” type support. Generating operations reports. Participating in the development of standard operating procedures for the operations center. Providing recommendations for new product features.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  US citizenship and an existing government security clearance are a requirement. An ability to learn quickly and remember what you have learned. A strong practical knowledge of desktop computer hardware and be able to install hard drives, cards, memory etc. A solid familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems including Vista and be able to change file permissions, add users, make changes to the system registry, etc. Good written and verbal communications skills. A detail oriented personality but also be able to multi-task in a dynamic environment driven by external demands. At least a high-school diploma although higher level academic credentials are a plus. At least two years of professional experience. Prior computer operations center experience a plus. Experience with software configuration management and problem tracking a plus. Experience with computer system administration a plus. Experience with Linux and /or Apple Os X a plus Experience with software testing a plus.
