Solution Architect

The Solutions Architect (SA) is an integral part of the new SB Technology Shared Services organization.  Each Solutions Architect is aligned with Relationship Managers covering various SB business technology groups.  The SA serves as the single point of contact into Shared Services for technology delivery teams and Relationship Managers.  The SA is also responsible for developing the long-term technology strategy for their technology group and the roadmap for migrating from the current state to the target state, aligned with the direction and standards set by the Framework and Reference Architecture team. Requirements for this position include: Ability to analyze business requirements and derive high-level technical designs. Knowledge of application components and how they work together to deliver end user requirements. Including client, middle layer, back end services and database. Awareness of various technology spaces including data warehousing, BI, web architectures, work flow and common development tools. Ability to communicate a solution and tailor to various audiences (business, business technology group). Ability to create solution guides for common technology problems. Experience as a developer in the past on web, client server or mainframe platforms. Ability to recognize issues with existing implementations and make recommendations on applying improvements.Responsibilities of this position include: Promote use of Client and Shared Services standard technologies. Ensure adherence to reference architectures specified by Shared Services teams. Research solutions and engage other Shared Services team members for SME advice on solutions. Communicate to Frameworks, COE and Hosting team members’ requirements for upcoming projects. Work with other Solutions Architects to ensure a seamless and integrated solution across Smith Barney and GWM Lines of Businesses on larger efforts. Perform evaluations of vendor solutions in coordination with Frameworks teamTECHNICAL SKILLS: 10+ years in Enterprise Application Architecture and Development with 5+ years in leadership or management roles.
