This Position can be located in either Oakland or PasadenaHealth Plan Solutions Design Consultant - Principal ArchitectAs Kaiser Permanente evolves into a more market driven and integrated healthcare delivery system, it has recognized the need to build its own consulting capabilities within the Kaiser Permanente Information Technology (KP-IT) organization. Kaiser Permanente is looking for exceptional principal-level Solution Design consultants with the focus on establishing and strengthening the relationship between KP-IT and Kaisers business clients, helping produce and lead the execution of the portfolio IT strategy, and conceptually structuring and guiding IT projects to align with the National Systems Strategy.The principal solution architect will work closely with the HP business partners and information technology professionals in five major areas: understanding current and future business strategy, defining and executing the IT strategy, identifying and evaluating solution and sourcing alternatives, developing high level designs, reviewing the solution designs and alternates to ensure alignment with overall systems strategy. The strategy principal will be responsible for: Ensuring a unified IT strategy is developed within and across Business Area Partnerships. Working with senior business and IT leadership to ensure that IT strategy is aligned with business Strategy. Participating in strategic national and regional initiatives early in the engagement to guide the solution direction. Providing leadership in the area of analysis, evaluation and selection of hardware, software, and tools. Working with IT and Business partners in developing the roadmaps to deliver complex projects and demonstrate comfort navigating barriers to achieve intended outcomes. Using the deep technical experience in performing the composition and decomposition of system solutions and related processes required to support large complex enterprise initiatives. Describing solution and sourcing options and solution designs in the context of defined IT Strategy. Driving buy v. build analyses and recommendations Defining, documenting and reviewing requirements (business, user, functional, non-functional, etc) and performing solution design and solution alternate analysis. Performing design reviews on a regular and on-going basis to maximize performance, ensure business satisfaction, and alignment with IT strategy. Working well in dynamic, unstructured environments, leading and guiding discussions from solutions architecture and analysis perspective. Maintain an active leadership role in healthcare working groups and initiatives related to information technology.The successful candidate must have significant experience working in a team environment and in large organization with the following skills: The ability to effectively define and execute IT strategy, and delivering results. The ability to working across organization to conceptualize and define Product Architecture and Product Roadmaps The ability to lead and influence the cross functional teams to deliver the technical solutions aligned with IT strategy. The ability to reduce problems to their essential core, and develop a solution by introducing additional details in a way that manages complexity. The ability and willingness to challenge business assumptions and motivate the team to develop strategically aligned solutions. The ability to foster collaboration and deliver solution through cross functional and diverse teams. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, able to tailor the communication to the audience i.e. high level and detailed. The ability to listen and welcome new ideas. The ability and drive to realize your vision working through others. The ability to challenge and mentor the team members. The ability to develop and direct a high performance technical team while leading by example. Significant experience in evaluating software packages and working with application vendors and system integrators. The ability to work in, and bring structure to, ambiguous environments.The successful candidate must have domain knowledge and experience with one or more the following business processes and functions: Customer Relationship Management practices and processes, and specifically experience with Salesforce.com. Knowledge of healthcare underwriting practices is a plus. Partner Relationship Management practices and processes, especially as they are applied in the healthcare insurance broker and consultant market. This should include establishing broker relationships, managing broker-based sales, and broker compensation. Knowledge of the Callidus software suite is an advantage. Marketing practices and processes, including B2B and B2C marketing, Web-based marketing, database marketing, and Marketing Resource Management.The successful candidate will have 15+ years experience with at least five years in a senior solution design and integration architect role (preferably in a leadership role), a BA/BS (MS or CS/MIS or MBA preferred), expertise in system development life cycle methodologies, and complex computing technology alternatives. Highly desirable is practical, hands-on experience with projects of increasing scope/scale in a globally recognized organization with an emphasis in delivering complex enterprise-level integrated solutions preferably in the healthcare industry. While healthcare experience is highly preferred, it is not mandatory for a candidate with an exceptionally strong background in the other skill areas. Positions are in Oakland and Los Angeles and require some travel.
