Title: Sr. AIX / UNIX Systems ProgrammerLocation: Corona, CASkills: 6+ years experience several of the following areas: AIX / SUN / Linux / Other Unix.Shift: TBD, Day or night shiftSummary* This position reports to the Manager, Enterprise Operations Command Center . * This position is responsible for maintaining superior 7x24 operation of the AIX/SUN/Unix Systems environments supporting various data centers and their high availability. * This position is responsible for run monitoring of processes, system triage and recovery, providing advanced technical consultation on design and engineering solutions, supporting system implementations and integrations, systems analysis and diagnosis, trouble-shooting, performance analysis and resolution as well as technical leadership/mentorship to peers, build, plan team members, and management supporting Kaiser Permanentes member services.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS1) 6+ years experience in several of the following areas: AIX / SUN / Linux / Other Unix.2) Ability to perform AIX / Unix system monitoring, maintain and support hardware/software.3) Understanding of system configurations, tuning and analysis.4) Ability to run systems and assist in technical system integrations on various platforms supporting core activities and investment projects.5) Assist build team in testing, certifications, pilots, introductions of advance technologies, implementation and delivery of projects according to specifications and timelines.6) Requires the ability to work with next level vendor and support teams for escalation of issues.7) Assess, diagnose and repair issues identified by current incident reporting tools and notification methods.8) Maintain and document systems architectures, designs, run processes and incident report statistics.9) Ability to support operating system backups and recoveries.10) Good understanding of Networks.11) Must have proven ability to multitask, troubleshoot complex problems and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 12) Analytical, logical and problem solving skills.13) Ability to work both independently and as part of the team.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS1) Knowledge of IT work tracking system such as Remedy.2) Good knowledge of ITIL principles.3) Good knowledge of Kepner-Tregoe.4) Good understanding of IT operations. 5) Knowledge of Kaiser but not essential.6) BS or equivalent experience.7) Should possess entry, plus next level certifications on one or more of the core technologies listed above. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1) Continuous availability of the Unix infrastructure throughout the Kaiser enterprise. The department utilizes a host of complex hardware and software products to facilitate problem identification and rapid recovery of local and distributed systems, and network entities, to limit the impact to the Kaiser Permanente Information Technology clientele. The position represents the highest-level problem technical solvers in the Enterprise Operations Support organization and is responsible for the implementation of improved procedures and/or enhanced diagnostic tools for use by other EOPS groups. 2) The Command Center Unix Senior, is responsible for providing the highest quality system level of service in an ever-changing environment and maintain a high degree of motivation, maximizing all training opportunities to maintain technical competence on all hardware/software products. 3) Ensure timely problem resolution of system and client device outages through the use of test equipment, software and both Kaiser supported and non-supported vendors. 4) Ensure quick solutions through prompt escalation of problems within Kaiser and within the vendor structure. Continuously improve rapport with the clients and vendors to ensure personnel work together to support client needs. 5) Maintain an awareness of constant changes occurring in the network, systems and application areas. Translating requests into technical specifications for support groups to enhance existing diagnostic tools, or create new tools. Ensure long term solutions that will mitigate future occurrences of a problem. The identification, analysis, and resolution of potential problems before they are visible to the client. 6) The person in this position will be responsible for troubleshooting and analyzing high severity problems and will take corrective action as needed, following established guidelines. Correct/fix basic problems independently. Use automated systems to record information. Assist in developing reports under the directions of a higher level resource. 7) Keep abreast of new technology developments. 8) Prepare, update and maintain documentation. 9) Coach/train lower level resources. 10) Provide feedback on detailed technical processes. 11) Complete configuration documentation. 12) Write instructions and documentation for lower level resources and/or general IT distribution. 13) Provide engineering level diagnoses and fault resolution of hardware and software problems. This position is a Senior, reporting to one of the Command Center Managers within Processing Services, a part of Enterprise Operations. This position is located in Corona.Enterprise Operations is part of Service Delivery, a group of 2000+ plus people who provide 24 hour year round infrastructure management, systems monitoring and operational support to over 2,500 applications, 8.7+ million members and the 180,000+ staff that constitute Kaiser Permanentes medical groups and business partners.
