Sr. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst

Indigo IT is seeking a Senior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst to provide functional support, technical coordination, and system quality assurance support for our commercial client’s GIS. The ideal candidate is a professional, technically adept team-player with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, good communication and customer service skills, and strong organizational skills necessary to handle multiple tasks. Experience working with a GIS in an airport or municipal environment and knowledge in field data collection with GPS a plus.

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Assist GIS Manager and staff in working with users to populate data elements within the GIS. 

· Assist GIS Manager in development, training, and implementation of a Plan/Process that results in data being entered accurately.

· Improve Data Quality Assurance by focusing on data checks, processes, and training that support accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, and validity of data required to meet business needs.

· Support training efforts.

· Identify and assist in efforts to correct/complete data currently within the system.

· Disseminate GIS upgrade/change information.

· Review and update user accounts and access capabilities as directed by the GIS Manager.

· Track and follow-up on Customer Service and Enhancement Requests.

· Coordinate efforts with the GIS Manager.

· Facilitate GIS meetings and actions.

· Coordinate installation/application of GIS upgrades, patches, custom reports.

· Coordinate implementation and use of interfaces to the GIS.

 

Strong working knowledge is required in the following areas: 

· Strong understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data.

· Experience with CADD technologies (Microstation and/or- AutoCAD) and data migration to GIS.

· Experience with ESRI GIS products, techniques, procedures and concepts.

· Three year’s experience and strong skills with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcInfo, ArcEditor and/or ArcView).

· Ability to perform GIS data conversion, map production, spatial analysis and reporting tasks.

· Technical familiarity with designing, creating, editing, and maintaining GIS data, geodatabases and metadata.

· Knowledge of technical facets of QA/QC plans.

· Experience with georeferencing materials from multiple sources and knowledge of the role of projections and coordinate systems.

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in computer programming (e.g., VBA, VB Script, Java, .net).

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or related field.

· Understanding of math and statistical analysis.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· A basic understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database.

· Good IT technical skills.

· Demonstrated experience is required in GIS analysis and development.

· The ability to think and solve problems.
