Leads, manages and supervises Information Technology (IT) and operations in an integral IT area. Has overall responsibility for a specific IT area including leading specific IT projects and implementation of new versions of software, management of systems and coordination with other IT projects across the division. Is accountable for a specific product and technical environment. Advises management on issues within the specific area that impact the division and enterprise-wide IT services. Ensures compliance and uniform, transparent systems across the division and enterprise by working closely with other area managers and directors. Implements uniform administrative procedures and systems throughout a division. Hires, trains and supervises staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.QualificationsA bachelor's degree and seven years of related IT experience including demonstrated technical expertise in specific IT areas, project management skills and lead or supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Extensive experience in the implementation and production support of an enterprise system.This position will form and manage a newly created Desktop and IT support team for the Finance & Administration Division and several affiliated and complex business units. The manager will report to the Director of Client Technology Services within the central IT department, University Technology Services. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of progressive experience in a technical leadership and supervisory capacity plus six additional years of technology related experience (nine or more total years of experience).The ideal candidate will have experience managing and supervising a team of at least three employees, but preference will be given to candidates with additional management oversight experience. Recent experience managing a team of desktop support technicians in a complex business environment supporting a wide variety of customers is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills for both technical staff and non-technical clients are necessary to properly support the team, the customer base, and the business units. The candidate must have demonstrated experience promoting change and upgrading or implementing new technology in a timely manner. The candidate must also have the ability to motivate, train and develop people, manage operational budgets, and think as a strategic leader beyond the needs of the immediate customer base to the needs of the entire institution.Due to the unique nature of the client groups, the candidate must have extensive previous experience providing direct desktop support to executives, their direct reports, and staff members. The IT Manager must have the ability and desire to stay abreast of new leading edge technology, and the ability to communicate those technologies effectively with customers. Demonstrated ability to identify business needs, work flow optimization techniques and technical requirements, develop and design business solutions in conjunction with customer needs, and successfully manage the implementation of the solution is required.Additionally the candidate must have the following technical experience:· Proven experience managing and supervising a geographically distributed team.· Ability to multi-task effectively, manages and delivers on-time multiple concurrent projects while also managing daily support and troubleshooting tasks.· Ability to prioritize competing needs to satisfy business and customer requirements.· Excellent written documentation skills (MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio) producing detailed requirements, architecture, and support and maintenance documents.· Extensive experience using desktop management tools such as LANDesk, Ghost, or SMS. LANDesk is preferred.· Advanced Tier 3 desktop technology skills; including advanced client skills with OutLook and PDA support.

Responsibilities:· Provide leadership and direct management and supervision of staff through regular team meetings, retreats and planning sessions, defining individual goals and conducting quarterly reviews, assisting with priority setting, and providing and encouraging professional growth and training opportunities.· Work effectively with IT management, project leaders, peers, and customers (including executives) through project plans, training, requirements documents, architecture proposals, and deployment.· Meet on a regular basis with customer stakeholders to obtain input, requirements, and feedback.· Remain current and knowledgeable of industry technological advances, their uses and their readiness for production deployment.· Develop detailed organization and technology migration plans to support the needs of the newly formed organization.· Develop desktop standards and provide a central ordering and inventory service to each unit (with funding to be provided from the ordering unit).· Develop Service Level Agreements and measure and report on the defined metrics.· Design, document, and implement new IT standards for F&A desktops, departmental servers, and applications.Personal Qualities:· Ability to take calculated risks· Change champion· Highly and self motivated· Reliable and deadline-oriented
