The Senior .NET Application Developer is an important position that will work very closely with technology and investments professionals to ensure that their dynamic information and automation needs are met. This position requires an individual that has both strong software development and communications skills. This role will work on a wide variety of systems initiatives that include developing interactive and batch systems, as well as integrating existing and vendor systems. These systems will primarily service our Performance Measurement, Operations and Accounting departments.
Accountabilities for Position:
** Participation in multiple projects that may involve a broad variety of complex technical and business issues.
** Developing financial management, analytic, and reporting systems used by a diverse user community.
** Maintaining a working knowledge of basic Fixed Income and Equity Investment Management terms and processes.
** Educating peers and management on technical tools, processes and best practices.
** Participating in and sometimes leading the due diligence and evaluation of business processes, services, vendors, and technologies.
** Effectively translating technology terms and functionality, into a business vocabulary understandable by non-technical staff.
** Ensuring that sponsors, stakeholders and project teams are kept apprised of progress, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
** Maintaining current knowledge of the software development industry, including computing technology, and trends.
** Assisting users in permanently resolving problems with automated processes and data, as well as finding opportunities for enhancement.
** Integrating data and workflows that span multiple business processes and systems, testing and quality assurance of new systems and system releases.
** Assisting with the continual improvement of systems, standards and methodologies.
** Performing end user education and training.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Successful candidates will have the following requirements:
** Ability to collaborate day-to-day along side our senior investment professionals to develop technology driven solutions which will deliver competitive advantage.
** Minimum 3 years experience developing systems with C#.NET, VB.NET, Visual Basic, ASP, or Visual C++.
** At least five years experience with development and maintenance of systems using Oracle and/or SQL Server databases, SQL, and PL/SQL.
** Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms. Experience with Investments is required.
** Experience developing systems with any or all of the following is a plus: Business Objects, Informatica PowerCenter, Autosys or UNIX shell scripting.
** Demonstrated ability as technical project lead. Skilled in system and application design techniques.
** Strong verbal and written communication ability is required.
** Analytical approach with a strong ability to uncover and resolve problems.
** Strong ability to estimate project tasks and to deliver upon committed dates. Ability to develop and maintain systems according to a defined set of standards.
** Ability to mentor junior staff in their development of technical knowledge and skills.
** Ability to set and manage own priorities effectively in a dynamic organization.
** Experience developing financial computation intensive systems.
** Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with peers.
** Ability to work as part of and with high performing teams.
** Effective listener, who can give timely and constructive feedback. Is willing to state opinions assertively and deals constructively with conflict situations.
** Ability to understand and communicate the impacts of system changes to business partners.
