Sr. Project Manager w/ strong IT and SDLC exp, 3+ yrs as PM (Permanent)
xScion Solutions is an Information Technology professional services firm supporting leading commercial clients in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. We are currently supporting a large health insurance company with some of their key hiring needs and are looking for a strong, LEAD DBA with strong expertise in DB2/UDB running on AIX.
NOTE: Candidates must be local to the Washington, D.C. area as relocation is not provided. In addition, applicants must be US Citizens or Greencard/EAD holders since neither xScion nor our client provides Visa sponsorship at this time.
PURPOSE:
The incumbent is responsible for development of Systems Architecture for mission critical corporate development projects. The core responsibilities include technical system design across multiple platforms and operating systems, development of and modification to departmental technical infrastructure, management of mainframe and client/server Data Base Administration activities, technical documentation, system performance support, and internal customer support. Position has no direct reports, but mentors less experienced IS staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Data Management, the incumbent's accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Provides ongoing team support in activities such as (but not limited to) system upgrades, Data Administration, Database design, Database System Administration, Disaster Recovery, security monitoring, training setups, storage management, Data Warehouse supportAbility to take the lead in some of these and other team tasks, determine steps necessary for timely completion and monitoring status of the tasksStrong emphasis on support of the data warehouse environmentThis is a high visibility application running on an AIX platform with DB2 used as the primary data store.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:BS in Computer Sciences with an emphasis on database management, or equivalent technical training and a minimum of five to eight years of database experienceSolid knowledge and experience with DB2 on AIX, AIX technologies and/or systems related to the department's core activitiesExperience client/server technology, including vendor tools and products used in system development, implementation, monitoring, performance and database administration, such as: UNIX Korn shell and Perl scripting, FlashCopy, SQL query creation, Stored Procedures, QMF for WindowsPC skills required include Microsoft Office software suite, such as MS Access, Word, EXCEL.
DESIRED SKILLS: Knowledge of existing departmental application infrastructureExperience with or overall knowledge of the individual systems or applicationsKnowledge of the following technologies: Crystal Reports, Erwin Model Manager, Control-M, Team Track, BRIO, DBArtisan, Ab Initio, Tivoli Storage Manager and work as a DBA in a mainframe environment.
