Sr. Microsoft SMS Administrator/ ArchitectLocation Natick, MADescription Sr. Microsoft SMS Administrator - Natick, MASummary:Responsible for the analysis, acquisition, installation, performance monitoring, capacity planning, modification and support of SMS infrastructure. Researches new technologies and their potential match to business solutions. Provide leadership for integration and upgrade projects in the area of software distribution and patching.Key technologies supported/used by the BSC Systems Team include Microsoft SMS/SCCM, Windows XP and Windows 2000 SP4, SQL Server, Active Directory, Winbatch scripting, Symantec Antivirus solutionsResponsibilities:- Manages resources by monitoring SMS infrastructure, traffic, processes, capacity utilization, and performance- Troubleshoots and resolves software distribution failures by analyzing the situation and initiating corrective or alternative actions.- Ensures system availability and integrity by developing and executing validated system management and component deployment processes.- Designs and implements distribution solutions by working with internal customer groups and external hardware/software vendors to assure that SMS infrastructure is designed accurately and meets the needs of the business.- Develops system management utility programs and interfaces by completing program design, coding, debugging and documentation.- Upgrades infrastructure components by researching, testing and installing application upgrades and patches.- Tests infrastructure architecture by preparing and conducting system and programming tests requiring interfacing of hardware and software.- Researches emerging distribution technologies and processes by reviewing white-papers, attending conferences, coordinating project demonstrations, and preparing recommendations for business solutions.- Protects data resources by designing and executing system backups that allow lost data to be recovered quickly and completely and by safeguarding against internal and external security threats in the form of software codes (viruses) or processes (post attack).Experience/EducationBachelor's degree plus 9+ years of related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.Technical/Business Knowledge (Job Skills)Comprehensive knowledge of a particular technological field. Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/ relationships. Is recognized as an expert in work group and across functions.
