Sr. System Administrator

Cogent Systems, Inc., a leading software developer for Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems, based in South Pasadena, California, has an immediate opening for a Sr. System Adminstrator with the following qualifications:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performing daily network administration tasks to maintain the health and viability of the network and server infrastructure in a Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Linux/UNIX, and VMware environment. Tasks include, but not limited to:

 

· Active Directory/Exchange 2003/Windows Clustering/DNS/WINS/DHCP administration and support

· Security monitoring, log analysis, and bandwidth reporting.

· Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrator, WAPs, RADIUS, and other infrastructure device support, maintenance and security-related tasks

· VoIP administration

· Remote access support including VPN and third party remote control software

· Workstation/Server cloning on a variety of platforms

· Network cabling organization, data closets, switch port labeling and data center management

· Storage support including RAID, SAN, and DFS File Server

· Backups and off-site data storage

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· BS in Computer Science or related field

· Windows 2003/2000/XP OS; Active Directory 2003; Exchange 2003;

· Cisco switch/PIX experience

· Experience with RAID; SMTP; DNS; WINS; DHCP; FTP; TCP/IP; VPN; IPSec; SSL; 802.11x Wireless; Encryption

· 2+ professional experience as a Systems Administrator

· MCSE/CCNA/Comptia certifications a plus

 

The candidate must have a demonstrable level of competence in systems administration skills, which include:

· Fast and effective troubleshooting of system and network problems

· Expert knowledge of administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including SMTP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, SSH, etc.

· Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities.

· System administration skills, such as troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs. application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems.

· Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings

· The candidate will be required to carry an on-call Blackberry

 

Qualified candidate must be able to pass security background check.
