Sr. Systems Analyst

We are seeking a Senior Systems Analyst. System Analysts have experience identifying and documenting business and business user requirements. The analyst also elicits and documents software functional requirements and non-functional specifications required by business and user requirements.A Regional Membership systems analyst supports a company-developed mainframe healthcare contracts and membership administration application for the Kaiser regions located in states across the US. This position, located in the Portland, OR metro area, is part of a team of application solution designers and application developers supporting the national membership application. As a Systems Analyst, you may work independently with business requestors or in partnership with local or remote product management solution specialists. You will interpret requirements and support technical solution designers who define and detail an application change solution and application developers who code and test the change solution.Responsibilities include:1. Supporting the development of feasibility responses and business cases for proposed changes.2. Assisting in impact analysis of proposed changes to local integrating interfaces to and from the membership application.3. Eliciting and documenting business, user, and software requirements and providing level-of-effort estimates. 4. Representing and managing change requirements and specifications through the software development life cycle.5. Ensuring that final solutions are complete and can be traced back to approved requirements.6. Ensuring that approved changes to requirements are fully documented.7. Documenting solution process flows and supporting programmers and testing specialists in developing test cases and test plans.8. Supporting user acceptance testing.9. Supporting publicists preparing user documentation.10. Assisting in deployments by supporting system business users as they adopt changes successfully into their work.11. As needed, preparing and conducting formal training for local trainers or business clients.12. Providing expertise about the use of the application for business requestors and planning groups within the Region.Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in business information systems, business process engineering, or a related discipline. It is highly desirable to have 5 years experience in a healthcare/insurance environment.A senior-level candidate must also have three years experience in business process and functional analysis for progressively complex technology applications, including interviewing business users, facilitating groups and documenting requirements and processes. Persons with a non-technical business background will have participated in a major technology installation or change as a business subject-mater expert.Knowledge of structured analysis or use-case based analysis is strongly desired. Requirements management tools such as Borland Caliber RM, and Structured Query Language (SQL) knowledge or experience is a plus, as is experience using the Remedy Action Request System for request management and tracking.You must have a strong team focus and ability to work well under deadlines. You must be comfortable working with collaboration tools such as Instant Messaging, virtual meeting rooms and teleconferencing.
