Strategic Technology/Data Center & Telecommunication Architect

Job Title: Strategic Technology/Data Center and Telecommunications Architecture and Data Center Design consultant: 

 

Job Details:

To obtain contract consultant services to assist the Data Center Director and the Telecommunications Director with defining DIT strategic direction, business process re-engineering, the generation of several strategic Data Center and Telecommunications RFP’s, and provide oversight on the development of the client’s Hosting Center design and development strategy.

 

Description of the requested work, including deliverables and knowledge transfer

1) Develop and deliver recommendations for a cost effective and efficient model to support the client’s future hosting center requirements.  Included within these recommendations will be the analysis of various hosting strategies, including partnerships, Economic Development opportunities, Build to order strategies and partnership opportunities .

 

2) Develop and deliver an implementation strategy for all recommendations made to the Data Center director and the Telecommunications Director.

 

3) Develop an implementation project approach for the delivery of the Data Center Design Project and the Telecommunications Projects

 

4) Participate in ongoing RFP development and serve as an advisor to both the Data Center director and the Telecommunications director throughout the acquisition process. 

 

5) Working with OFS and TDCS develop a sustainable rate model for services offered within the scope of the Data Center and Telecommunications.  Financial analysis for all new acquisitions or future planning activities for the Data Center and Telecommunications is included within this task.

Experience in facilitating working group meetings of diverse personnel

Experience in research, analysis, providing recommendations and preparation of management level documentation

Experience in presenting research results in management level and technical level presentations

Experience in performing detailed financial analysis of alternatives

Experience in working with the infrastructure supplier community and managed services providers in the business environment

This position prefers a Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and requires 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.

 

Location: Lansing, MI

Duration: 12 Months
