View all Sungard Availability Services jobs Supervisor, Oracle Applications Administrator / GS4754 Position Description:This position can also be based in Philadelphia, PA or Houston, TXProvide world-class customer support and technical expertise for SunGard customer Oracle applications.• Support of all SunGard Customer Oracle application and database administration operational tasks. Customer will maintain ownership of application development and business functions.• Manage and execute all tier 2 troubleshooting procedures for disaster recovery, managed services and contracted products. Utilize skills, education and training to solve problems and manage changes quickly for customers. Provide direct support to application incident, problem and change management.• Manage ticket queues to provide responsive support to customers for operational issues.• Technical assistance to all SunGard internal/external customers during system problems and implementation.• Interface with and support customer refresh requests, restores and database administration functions.Manage new customer implementations as scheduled.• Support SunGard Managed Services team members in implementations of new customer environments.• Manage database and application implementation timelines and support installation, tuning, validation and management of new customer Oracle applications in SunGard data centers and in remote customer locations.• Provide detailed, accurate technical documentation and troubleshooting steps to allow tier 1 response to initial problems.• Provisioning monitoring and reporting as required for new implementations.Attend training courses, perform self-study, and obtain Oracle certifications.• Learn automated resource functions and terminology.• Learn alert management platforms, functions, and terminology. Specifically, understand the monitoring fabric and software tools used to monitor the environment effectively.• Learn the SunGard product offerings.• Learn the SunGard clients & their services.• Learn the Database and Application Management services and responsibilities. Become familiar with ISO9001:2000 documentation, provide suggestions and execution of continuous improvement of these procedures.• Working knowledge in activating, provisioning, and troubleshooting managed storage (tape and disk), load balancing, operating systems administration, database administration, monitoring services.• Strong systems, database, application and storage troubleshooting skills are required.• Strong project management, time management skills required.• Must be a strong team player.Qualifications:• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent• Must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in the following areas: • Full Oracle application lifecycle support • Installation, configuration, cloning and upgrades of Oracle databases and Oracle E-Business Suites• AD Utilities such as patching, cloning, etc• Applications system administration and troubleshooting • Debugging concurrent managers and requests • Database and Application security • Minimum 3 years of experience with Core Oracle Database (Oracle 9i, 10G experience is a bonus) • Experience in database backup and recovery using RMAN • Performance tuning of databases and Oracle Application • Experience in capacity planning• Experience with installation and support of Oracle Application Server 10g.• Must work in a fast-paced, operational environment and be willing to execute on-call rotations per a schedule with consistent and reliable response.Preferred Skills: A minimum of 3 years experience in the following areas: • Exposure to e-Business Suite application (financials, HRMS) modules. • Experience with Java either as a programmer or as a DBA supporting Java.• Knowledge of Oracle Replication and data migrations. • Knowledge of connection pooling, JDBC, and Oracle Networking (Net8) • Unix/Linux shell scripting. • Experience with tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, custom-scripting, Quest, Toad etc. • Experience with E-Business Suite Oracle On Demand.• Disaster Recovery and High-Availability experience (9iRAC, 10g RAC)is preferred. • Experience with Oracle Portal, Oracle Internet Directory and Single Sign On.• Oracle Certified Professional Certification a plus. • Preferred Requirements:• College degree in Computer Science or similar engineering degree. • Excellent oral and written skills and is capable of translating technology concepts and trends into meaningful information understandable to those who are less technical inside or outside of the organization.• Ability to engage various resources within to the company to support customer’s environment.• Demonstrated history of attributes consistent with culture: can-do attitude, customer-focused, flexible, initiative, quality-conscious, responsive, teamwork and contributing to other’s success.SUNGARD IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER, M/F/D/V
