Job Category:System Engineer Professional Primary Location:USA-FL: FLORIDA-WEST PALM BEACHSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Regular Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 05/07/2008Description: Responsible for supporting dockside and at-sea sensor accuracy testing on US and NATO surface ships, submarines and helicopters.Performs many of the following responsibilities: Install, operate, and maintain acoustic target generation systems, radar transponders and EW simulator systems in a real-time test environment. Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on electronic equipment Installs, configures, and troubleshoots computer networks and associated assemblies. Support engineering changes, prepare documentation, perform equipment modifications, and install and test new equipment. Conduct special studies and prepare technical report regarding equipment performance and improvement. Interface with naval officers and enlisted personnel to achieve goals of the designated test. Monitor shipboard personnel in equipment setup and operation to ensure quality of data collection. Maintain equipment inventory, develop specifications for new equipment, and prepare purchase requisitions. Perform other duties as assigned. Associates degree in a related field. 5 years related experience with military or civilian training in electronics. Must be familiar with naval shipboard operations, technology, customs, traditions, and protocol. Knowledge of acoustics theory, RF propagation theory, GPS tracking systems, and computer networking required. U.S. Navy surface ship, submarine, and helicopter navigation and target sensor systems knowledge required. Valid Drivers License and passport will be required.Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance. Must be medically qualified for short duration stays on submarines. Must be able to reach, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, crouch, sit, climb and balance. Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds. Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
