Systems Administrator - Solaris/Linux/AIX
Overall ResponsibilityThe Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting in managing the customer-facing production site and internal system and network infrastructure for our Client, the leading provider of web analytics solutions. This includes day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of a 300+ node environment consisting of Linux, Solaris, AIX, Apache, JBoss, Oracle RDBMS, DB2, Storage Area Networks, and Cisco networking devices. The Systems Administrator will also be involved with an on-call rotation schedule, as the Operations team provides 24x7 support for the customer-facing aspects of its service.Detailed ResponsibilitiesThese responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:n Day-to-day hardware, network, and operating system support and monitoring (e.g., installs, upgrades, troubleshooting).n Monitor, diagnose and correct problems related to WAN/LAN components.n Base-level performance monitoring and tuning (e.g., identify “hot spot” areas and make recommendations for improvement).n Configuration Management (e.g., familiarity with various system configuration tools such as CVS, RPM, etc.).n Software Installation and Upgrades.n Backup and Recovery of system- and database-level files.n Hardware maintenance of rack-mounted servers, network equipment, disk arrays, and tape libraries.n Maintain documentation for all major areas of responsibility.Required Qualificationsn General understanding of Web-based technology as it relates to the web-hosted model of software delivery.n At least three years of previous Systems Administration experience.n Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system, with experience in RedHat Enterprise preferred.n Strong knowledge of the Solaris operating system.n Ability to perform rotational on-call duties with pager and guaranteed response times.n Hands-on experience running and maintaining Apache, BIND, FTP, JBoss, sendmail and/or postfix, and other server applications.n Hands-on experience with Linux package management systems (e.g., RPM), and experience with source code application installation.n Hands-on experience with TCP/IP, VTP, TACACS+, RADIUS, SNMP, and troubleshooting WAN and LAN-to-LAN connectivity problems.n Hands-on experience with Cisco configuration management (IOS installs, upgrades, troubleshooting)n Experience with Storage Area Networks is a plus.n Experience with Oracle on Linux and/or Solaris is a plus.n CCNA or better required.n Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems strongly preferred.
