Systems/Database Administrator

The Operations, Intelligence and Security BU currently has an opening for an Air and Space Operations Center System/Database Administrator supporting Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS) and other USAF Command and Control (C2) systems at Hickam AFB, HI. Candidate will provide systems/database administration support for the USAF’s Air Operations Center installation of Theater Battle Management Core System Force Level (TBMCS-FL) and other USAF C2 systems including Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS). Database administration support includes but is not limited to the following Oracle, TBMCS, and JADOCS application-related activities: periodic database backups, database recovery, loading new databases, reinitializing and reloading databases upon installation of new software version releases; database and applications server performance monitoring; database storage allocation; database and server distribution monitoring; maintaining database configuration and server-related parameter tables; database SQL query, form, report and related script design and development; monitoring application data flow and processes; external system interface implementation at the functional level; and reporting database related problems and resolving them to the degree possible consistent with operational site configuration management restrictions. System Administration support shall include performing the full range of TBMCS systems administration tasks to include Sun Solaris UNIX and 2000 and 2003 Server/2000 and XP Workstation operating system administration, installation, configuration, and reconfiguration; TBMCS software installation and applications server configuration; system performance monitoring and multi-server troubleshooting; and security and user ID/duty position management. The candidate will also provide inputs to system status briefings and reports, and informal, mentor-guided on-the-job training to newly-assigned government system and database administration and user personnel. Requirements: 3 years relevant experience. Candidates must have a combination of three years work experience as a computer operator and systems/network manager/administrator with experience in maintaining, monitoring, analyzing, and fixing systems/network operations, performance, and functionality problems. Candidates must also have a combination of three years work experience in design, programming, maintenance, administrating, or managing an Oracle Database. Candidates must have at least 1 year specialized experience administering a Solaris 8 system in a network environment and experience administering a Microsoft Windows NT/2000/2003 system in a network environment. Substitution of experience for educational requirements – six years related experience or four years related experience and an Associate’s degree may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Desired: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline, Solaris and Microsoft certifications highly desired.
