Systems Engineer

General Qualifications

Degree Preference: BS in Computer Science Preferred

Certification Requirement: MCSE, Advanced UNIX admin



Assignment

Candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of service testing methodologies using Microsoft's System Center Operations Manager 2007, Quest Software's Big Brother, and other enterprise class service monitoring systems.



Primary Responsibilities

1) Design monitoring tests for all core technology platforms - Windows, UNIX, I/Series, Mainframe

2) Improve and refine monitoring functionality using cross functional programming languages

3) Administer and tune UNIX and Microsoft based monitoring tools

4) Deploy monitoring agents and verify accuracy

5) Provide 3rd level support for enterprise monitoring systems



Required General Skills

1) General understanding of foundation level ITIL concepts

2) Experience with the MS COE

3) Excellent written and oral communications

4) Ability to work in a self-directed environment



Required Technical Skills

1) System Administration - Expert with 5 year(s) experience.

Candidate needs to primary operating system focus in UNIX/RedHat or Windows

2) Developer-Java, Perl, Python - Expert with 2 year(s) experience.

Proficiency in at least 2 of these cross platform scripting languages

3) Analyst-Production Support - Expert with 3 year(s) experience.

Experience in monitoring 100+ devices with industry leading software tools (MS Operations Mgr, HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, etc.)



Preferred Technical Skills

1) System Administration - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience.

A secondary operating system focus in UNIX/RedHat or Windows
