Systems Engineer / Administrator - Citrix

Job Description

Job requires active DoD Top Secret clearance.  The primary responsibility of this position is to provide design, planning, implementation and administration for a Citrix server environment.  This engineering position is responsible for ensuring accessibility and reliability of services through sound planning, design and advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution. This position requires that candidates be on-call to provide emergency support.

 

Daily DutiesSupport migration and rollout of Citrix across our enterprise;Manage, administer and maintain server farm running Citrix Presentation Server 4.0; Administer file system, Operating System, and directory structure; Build, configure, and support DELL Blade and server hardware, Citrix software, and Microsoft Windows 2000/2003server OS; Configure security setting for web and applications servers to prevent unauthorized access and limit vulnerabilities; Manage and install images created via RDP for server configurations;Manage, troubleshoot and support Citrix environment; Interface with internal groups to assess their requirements; Document all installations, configurations, and processes as appropriate; Perform research and analysis necessary for developing appropriate recommendations regarding hardware/software configurations; Perform troubleshooting at an advanced level and present optional courses of action;Keep informed regarding new technology related to job function; Interact with management and various groups;Perform network installation, upgrade and migration projects with Microsoft, Citrix, and VMware technologies for global organization; Provides system administration for Windows 2000 & 2003 Server, Exchange Server 2000 & 2003, Windows Terminal Server, Citrix Metaframe and clients;
Design, implement, support, enhance and upgrade our Windows Servers and Enterprise Storage Solutions; Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution; Demonstrate commitment to outstanding customer service: Continuously strive to provide the highest possible customer service and make recommendations for improving our service and efficiencies; Assist in creating and documenting policies and procedures; Clearly communicate problem/resolution process to customers or management; Mentor engineers technically and professionally. Regularly assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking their work; Serve as liaison to vendors to facilitate problem resolution.

 

Required Skills

Active Top Secret Clearance

Five years of experience in the area of server administration in a mid/large sized architecture

Strong verbal and written skills

Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers

Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems

Demonstrated ability to design system architectures

 

Education

Associates or bachelors degree in a technical discipline is desirable.

Professional certifications from Citrix, Microsoft, and Cisco are desirable.

 

Highly Desired SkillsExpert knowledge of CitrixMicrosoft Certified Systems Engineer certificationProven experience with Windows 2000 & 2003 server suite including hands on experience including: install, routine maintenance, disk quotas, share/ntfs permissions, event log monitoring, IIS, FTP, and SMTP. Expert knowledge of Internet Information Server, SQL Server, Transaction Server, Systems Management Server, Terminal Server Proven experience with Active Directory, Exchange 2003 Proven experience supporting a mixed environment Proficient use of debugging, analysis, and monitoring toolsTheory and operations of backup systems. This includes the entire backup/restoration process for all supported servers/services. Design and implementation of security best practices for servers and services. Strong scripting skills requiredApplied knowledge on SANs, clustering, mirroring, fault tolerance technologies.Thorough understanding of systems monitoring, and long term trending of SLA, performance, and sizing metrics. Experience with Group Policies to manage Microsoft Windows workstations Experience with switching, routing, VLAN, firewall, proxy, VPN and load-balancing technologies a plus. Knowledgeable about security practices Excellent communication skills
