Traveling to Texas is required.Required Skills:• Previous UNIX experience: AIX & Linux.• Strong problem solving ability.• Strong customer service skills.• Possesses 6C clearance.• Progressive server migration experience.Desired Skills:• Experience with any of the following UNIX platforms: AIX and Linux. • Exposure to internet technologies, networking concepts including http, ftp, DNS, Sendmail TCP/IP routing, LDAP, NIS.• Experience with backup and recovery strategy a must. Product knowledge of TSM, Legato and Veritas backup solutions desired.• Ability to install new operating system releases, perform system upgrades, and evaluate and install system patches.• Perform system backup and recovery.• Experience with capacity planning and trending analysis.• Monitor system activity and tune parameters as necessary for performance.• Monitor system configurations to maintain compliance with security standards.• B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline preferred but related technical field may substitute if candidate can demonstrate sufficient background to perform the related job tasks.• Relevant certifications highly desirable.Complete job description:• Minimum 5+ years related experience in UNIX Systems administration, scripting, systems analysis, performance tuning, operating systems software and server hardware support; data communication protocols; system design, implementation and support; and multi-platform system integration. • Demonstrated UNIX administration skills required. Experience on multiple platforms (IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP/UX, Linux) desired. Demonstrated hardware expertise on IBM, Dell, Sun and HP servers. • Demonstrated expertise in TCP/IP required. • Experience with backup and recovery strategy a must. Product knowledge of TSM, Legato and Veritas backup solutions desired. • Excellent documentation skills and ability to train operations staff required. • Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Disaster Recovery Procedures.• Very strong customer focus with a positive attitude required. • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. • Install, configure, support, and maintain UNIX system and application software on multiple platforms. • Maintain patch levels (PTF)’s utilizing current Best Practices.• Develop and maintain system support procedures and documentation. • Provide project leadership for the planning and execution of major department projects. • Provide guidance and advice to developers and users concerning system capabilities, software, hardware, and procedures. • Monitor system performance and capacity, and recommend hardware, software, and procedural changes needed to handle forecasted growth. • Establish backup and restoration procedures and schedules for UNIX servers. • Identify and evaluate new technologies, methodologies, and procedure(s), and assess the technical and financial feasibility of their use. • Perform technical proposal analysis, design, and proposal drafting. • Analyze and solve conceptual and complex problems/situations of a global nature • Develop shell scripts as necessary to increase operational effiency.• Support/lead decision-making process related to future technical issues and long-term technical direction. • Participate on scheduled on-call rotation. • Depending on projects varying degree of overtime may be required. • Evaluate new products and provide “proof of concept” analysis.• Support tier 1 support group with user and printer administration as required.• Participate in Root Cause Analysis for severity level 1 and 2 outages.• Ability to obtain government security clearance to the 6C level.• Experienced data center migration administrator.Required ExperienceThis positions requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and/or experience.
