Position Description:

As a senior member of the Collaboration Engineering team, the Principle Engineer is responsible for understanding current and future business needs and defining the product strategy around collaboration – specifically portal, messaging, and workflow technologies.Qualifications:• 7+ years experience in Information Technology focusing on cross-platform systems, including Unix/Linux and Windows • 3+ years professional experience as a systems engineer and/or developer responsible for design and implementation of Portal Technologies in large scale enterprises. Experience in the technology lifecycle management, configuration, optimization, and tuning of these types of products is required.• BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related• Ability and desire to undertake a technical mentoring role within department.• Ability to work well in fast paced, team oriented environment.• Enthusiasm and commitment to achieving Operational Excellence in support of Service Levels.• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.• Ability to analyze problems and provide suggestions for resolution.• Ability to juggle multiple projects and problems.• Must be able to influence others and be influenced gracefully.• Must be well organized.• Must possess strong documentation skills.Technical Skills:• Proven experience integrating Portal Technologies, Messaging Technologies, and Productivity Solutions.• Proven programming experience relating to Java, .NET, C#, C++, Visual Basic, or ASP.NET and XML, XSLT, HTML, JavaScript.• Must have successfully delivered at least one medium to large, complex project as a technical lead.• Direct experience working with Vignette V7 Application Portal, Content Manager, Builder and MS Sharepoint. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Assist in defining and communicating Safeway’s Collaboration and Communication technology strategy, including the definition and enforcement of standards.• Serve as the primary Engineer for Vignette products.• Work in a team of Systems Engineers responsible for architecture and design of Collaboration and Communication framework, including Portal solutions and Messaging technologies.• Engineer points of integration between Collaboration, Communication, and Productivity Technologies, and develop custom user interfaces into said solutions.• Provide support-of-a-last-resort when an engineering requirement is demonstrated.• Provide application installation and integration guidance to the Development staff.• Evaluate and recommend new products for use at Safeway.• Work with applications architects to ensure that new application designs fit into the target infrastructure and that operational controls are part of the initial design.• Provide technology along with process and procedures for upgrades, customization, and system integration to appropriate parties.
