Systems Engineering Manager
The Systems Engineering Manager is required to work on an Internet-based telematics project. Candidates must have significant experience designing, deploying and managing global IT infrastructure systems in support of Windows .NET based real-time applications, scalable database storage systems, wireless communications with mobile devices, and ensuring the achievement of set SLA parameters. Experience with predominately Windows server technology and possibly Linux (for Oracle RAC) is required. Our environment is dynamic, collaborative and team-oriented. The Systems Engineering Manager will: • Perform project management for deployment projects and new server, process, and unique customer implementations. • Perform high level system server and storage architecture design, including LAN, WAN, and Fiber Channel networking. • Develop ITIL-based processes and procedures to support Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and all aspects of Service Delivery and Service Support including management of incidents, problems, capacity, availability, change, and cost. • Support production applications, servers, and networks and investigate outages. • Provide 24x7 on-call support for production Windows servers, EMC SAN, Linux database servers, on a rotational basis. • Measure, predict, and report product capacity, reliability and availability. • Evaluate the overall service delivery cost of product features, including wireless airtime, infrastructure, and hosting costs and predict effects on capacity and scalability. • Develop software tools to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources – server performance logs, wireless airtime invoices, etc. – to support product pricing, capacity planning, and other business decisions. • Manage and resolve complex problems involving interaction between server hardware, mobile device hardware, applications and IP networks by working with hardware developers, software developers, equipment vendors and customers. • Write and perform end-to-end system test procedures particularly related to testing the wireless device interaction with new hardware and software product features. • Perform a variety of related duties and tasks as required. Education requirements: Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar field. Experience requirements (years): 10+ Years IT Engineering/Management Skill requirements: Globally distrbuted IT infrastructure in support of real-time Telematics applications. Scalable, fault tolerant, disaster recovery, integration with wireless carriers. • Ability to solve complex problems. • Ability to develop software tools to analyze data using C, VB, SQL, etc. • Interest in learning new disciplines. • EMC SAN equipment and fiber channel switches. • Experience managing Windows and Linux servers. • Flexibility to work off-hours to accommodate scheduled changes. • Ability to travel domestically on a monthly basis and internationally on a quarterly basis.
